Position Summary:The SLP provides diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for speech, language, voice, swallow and fluency disorders.聽 The SLP evaluates the needs of assigned patients, establishes goals with the patient and plans and conducts treatment.聽 Effectively interacts with patient, family and health care team members.聽 Interacts with all life span of patient populations; pediatrics to geriatrics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, treat, evaluate, implement POC on patient population as assigned

  • Demonstrate understanding of admission process, treatment costs, financial support and appropriate billing聽

  • Practices under ASHA standards and the SLP Practice Act of IL.

  • Superior work ethics, professional image and dress required

  • Works in collaboration with the physician

  • Provides supportive supervision of SLP students

  • Promotes a clean and safe environment of care, utilizing the SAFE error prevention habits

  • Provides the highest standard of privacy and confidentiality in matters involving patients, coworkers, and the hospital by abiding by the Standards of Conduct

  • Completes documentation of all patient care activities in a timely manner in the electronic medical record.

  • Develop professional skills by defining and completing appropriate Development plans, participating in continuing education and in-service offerings, using written resources to keep current with advancements in the field and seeks out resources with recognized expertise within and outside the Department to enhance quality of care.

  • Interpersonal skills are needed to communicate with other health care professionals and establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.

  • Uphold professional standards and responsibilities by achieving service competence and applying evidence-based interventions to promote quality in practice.

  • Includes Saturday and Sunday rotation work as applicable.

Required Qualifications:聽聽

Education and Training:

  • Completion of a Master鈥檚 or Doctorate degree program from an accredited college or university

  • Current CPR Certification from the American Heart Association聽

  • Current License as a speech-language pathologist from the State of Illinois

Work Shift Details:

Days, Level III: paid at $52/hour with $3 weekend differential, minimum 2 weekend shifts/month, and 1 approved holiday shift of the 6 recognized Silver Cross Holidays/year

Level IV: paid at $55/hour with $3 weekend differential, minimum 4 weekend shifts/month, and 1 approved holiday shift of the 6 recognized Silver Cross Holidays/year
