Job Summary

The Classroom Aide supports the teacher in providing a safe, positive, and effective learning environment for students. The Aide assists with classroom activities, student supervision, instructional support, and daily routines while helping meet the individual needs of students. In a Catholic school setting, the Classroom Aide supports the school's Catholic identity and mission and models respectful, caring, and faith-centered behavior.

Job Responsibilities

  • Classroom Support: Assist the teacher with daily classroom activities, instructional materials, assignments, and routines.
  • Student Support: Provide individual and small-group assistance to students as directed by the teacher.
  • Student Supervision: Monitor and supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, and other assigned activities.
  • Classroom Management: Support the teacher in maintaining a safe, orderly, respectful, and positive classroom environment.
  • Learning Activities: Help prepare materials and assist students with lessons, projects, activities, and other learning experiences.
  • Student Needs: Provide appropriate support to students based on individual learning, behavioral, or developmental needs under the direction of the teacher.
  • Classroom Organization: Help maintain a clean, organized, and well-prepared classroom, including supplies, learning materials, and student work.
  • Communication: Communicate student concerns, observations, or incidents to the classroom teacher or appropriate school staff.
  • Catholic School Mission: Support the Catholic identity and mission of the school and participate in prayer, religious activities, and faith-based programs as appropriate.
  • Safety and Confidentiality: Follow all school safety, child protection, and emergency procedures and maintain confidentiality regarding students and school matters.
  • Teamwork: Work cooperatively with teachers, administrators, support staff, parents, and other school personnel.
  • Other Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or school administration.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or coursework in education preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children in a school, childcare, church, or related setting preferred.
  • Ability to work patiently and positively with students.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Commitment to supporting the Catholic mission and values of the school.
  • Successful completion of required background screening, child-safety training, and other diocesan or school requirements.
