Job Summary

The Catholic Elementary School Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and academically challenging learning environment where students are encouraged to grow intellectually, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. The teacher plans and delivers engaging instruction aligned with school and diocesan curriculum standards while integrating the Catholic faith into daily classroom life.

The teacher serves as a positive Christian role model and supports the mission, values, and Catholic identity of the school.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with curriculum standards.
  • Teach core academic subjects appropriate to the assigned grade level.
  • Integrate Catholic faith, values, prayer, and Gospel teachings into the classroom and curriculum as appropriate.
  • Create a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Establish clear classroom expectations and maintain appropriate student behavior and discipline.
  • Assess student learning through assignments, observations, projects, tests, and other appropriate methods.
  • Monitor and document student academic progress and provide timely feedback.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the individual learning needs and abilities of students.
  • Provide additional support or enrichment to students as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, lesson plans, and other required records.
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and guardians regarding student progress, needs, and concerns.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers, specialists, aides, administrators, and support staff.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school events, and other activities.
  • Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, field trips, and other activities as assigned.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming classroom.
  • Follow all school, diocesan, and safety policies and procedures.
  • Support school-wide activities, traditions, and programs.
  • Model Christian values through kindness, patience, respect, integrity, and compassion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or school administration.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field preferred/required, as applicable.
  • Valid teaching certification or license, if required by the state or diocese.
  • Previous elementary teaching experience preferred.
  • Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and meet diverse student learning needs.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, parents, and administration.
  • Commitment to the Catholic faith and the mission and values of Catholic education.
  • Must complete required background checks, child-safety training, and other diocesan or school requirements.
