Berg Construction is a locally owned and operated excavation company. We are currently growing and are looking to hire a Mechanic/Service Technician to join our Team. The Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing issues on automotive, heavy trucks and a variety of construction equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems of heavy duty trucks, vehicles, and other construction equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as, oil changes, tune ups etc.
  • Diagnose, repair, adjust, and modify components as needed
  • Positive interface with service department, supervisors, and clients
  • Maintain functional condition by listening to operator complaints, repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions
  • At times provide off-site repair assistance with our Road Mechanic
  • Prepare proper documentation of actions taken
  • Maintain conformity to safety requirements and other regulations
  • Positive interface with service, department, peers and clients
  • Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years' experience with automotive and heavy truck repairs and heavy construction equipment
  • Ability to effectively diagnose and troubleshoot complex equipment problems
  • Strong initiative required; ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
  • Have a clear understanding of the necessity of equipment safety
  • Must have basic set of mechanic's hand tools
  • Must be able to work on several types and brands of equipment
  • Valid Driver's License, CDL preferred but not required
  • Must be able to pass drug test and background check
  • A good attitude
