About Operation Restoration:  

Operation Restoration (OR) supports women and girls impacted by incarceration to recognize their  full potential, restore their lives, and discover new possibilities. At OR, we focus on advocacy,  education, economic mobility, and true economic equity for our staff, clients, and community. Our  goal is to end the incarceration of women and girls. Incarceration is defined as confinement in prison,  jail, immigrant, juvenile or military detention, or a deportation facility. Operation Restoration defines directly impacted women and girls as individuals who are currently or have previously been incarcerated, arrested, or are on probation and/or parole.


About the Position:  

Under the direction of the Communications Administration Specialist, the Communications Coordinator implements approved communications initiatives across digital platforms, media, and content channels in alignment with established strategy and brand standards.  This role is responsible for the production, coordination, and timely deployment of digital and written communications, ensuring that approved messaging and campaigns are executed accurately, consistently, and on schedule. The Communications Coordinator plays a critical role in amplifying OR’s mission and visibility through high-quality communications support while adhering to established workflows and approval processes.



Duties and Responsibilities:

Communications Strategy & Brand Leadership Support

  • Manage day-to-day execution, support and engagement on OR’s social media platforms and website, aligning with approved strategy, messaging and brand guidelines

  • Draft social media captions, newsletters, and multimedia content based on approved messaging

  • Maintain content calendars and posting schedules, in collaboration with the Communications Specialist 

  • Create basic graphics and digital assets using approved templates and brand guidelines

  • Edit short-form video content for social and digital platforms, in collaboration with the Communications team

  • Implement website updates, blog posting, and digital announcements following review and approval

Media & Public Relations Strategy Support

  • Draft press releases, media advisories, and pitch language for review by the Communications Specialist and/or Communications Administration Specialist 

  • Maintain media lists and support media outreach coordination, following review and approval 

  • Support Communications Specialist with preparation of talking points, interview briefs, and background materials

  • Support event-related communications and media coordination

Analytics & Reporting Support

  • Pull monthly analytics for social media, website, and newsletters

  • Track engagement and performance metrics

  • Provide reports and insights to the Communications Specialist for strategic analysis

Cross-Department Collaboration Support

  • Collaborate with OR departments to gather stories, updates, and program highlights

  • Support fundraising and donor communications with approved design and content assets

  • Coordinate with staff to ensure timely and accurate communications execution

Professional Development

  • Participate in organizational trainings, programmatic updates, and communications workshops

  • Develop working knowledge of OR’s brand strategy, messaging framework, communications and media processes

  • Maintain cross-training in digital tools, media support functions, and reporting systems to ensure continuity during team absences

  • Remain versed in all core communications functions to support department-wide needs as necessary

Additional Operational Support

  • Follow established communications SOPs, workflows, and approval processes

  • Assist in maintaining and organizing digital assets in organizational drives

  • Capture content for events, campaigns, and organizational initiatives

  • Take staff headshots during onboarding

  • Maintain departmental equipment inventory according to organizational standards

  • Performs related duties as assigned in support of organizational goals

At times, this role requires flexibility to work outside of standard business hours to support our mission as a community-centered organization. The role also may include occasional travel.



Desired Qualifications and Skills:


  • 2–4 years of experience in communications, digital media, PR, or related field

  • Experience working in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations preferred

  • Strong writing and communication skills

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content management systems

  • Experience with tools such as Canva, basic Adobe Suite, Square Space and website CMS platforms

  • Photography and videography skills preferred

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven

  • Ability to work independently while following clear direction

  • Commitment to criminal legal system, reform and equity
