JOB Title: Human Resources Specialist – Employee & Labor Relations

POSITION STATUS: Full-Time

FLSA classification: Exempt

STARTING Salary range: $66,650.00 – $75,000.00 annually

JOB SUMMARY

The Human Resources Specialist – Employee & Labor Relations supports human resources by managing workplace disputes, tracking grievances, maintaining contract files, and ensuring company policies align with labor laws. This role helps bridge communication between staff, management, and union representatives

  • Interpret collective bargaining agreement provisions, rules, and regulations; advise management on labor relations matters 
  • Support labor negotiations by conducting research, preparing materials, and assisting with contract language 
  • Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements across departments 
  • Track and manage grievances, disciplinary actions, and dispute resolution processes 
  • Conduct workplace investigations related to employee relations, discrimination, and policy violations 
  • Assist with arbitration preparation, including research, documentation, and witness coordination 
  • Review and update labor policies and procedures based on negotiated agreements 
  • Train management and supervisors on labor agreements, policies, and documentation practices 
  • Analyze labor relations trends and prepare reports with recommendations 
  • Maintain accurate documentation, records, and data integrity 
  • Support implementation of negotiated pay rates and classification updates 
  • Conduct surveys and research on wages, benefits, and employment practices 
  • Monitor compliance with labor agreements and organizational goals 
  • Conduct field reviews and site visits as needed 
  • Prepare reports and present findings for leadership and departments 
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries related to labor relations programs 
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, human resources, labor relations, or a related field. 2 years’ experience in labor relations, civil rights compliance, or related programs, and 3 years’ experience conducting workplace investigations. Must be proficient in Microsoft applications. 

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS/DEMANDS

Valid Louisiana driver’s license or ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation to perform job duties (investigations, etc.)

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Normal office environment. Must be able to remain stationary 50% of the time and constantly operate a computer or other office productivity machinery such as a copy machine, computer, printer, etc.
