JOB TITLE: HOSTLER SUPERVISOR

POSITION STATUS: FULL-TIME

FLSA CLASSIFICATION: EXEMPT

STARTING SALARY RANGE: $57,210 - $65,000 ANNUALLY

JOB SUMMARY

Supervises and coordinates the activities of hostlers assigned to the cleaning and servicing staff to ensure clean, reliable, and safe transit vehicles are available for daily operational requirements.

Rail Maintenance Manager or Bus Maintenance Manager

Bus & Van Cleaner (Hostlers)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions upon request.

· Supervise hostlers in the sweeping, fueling, and washing of vehicles used for daily service.

· Ensure interiors & exteriors of all vehicles are cleaned daily, including seats, dashboards, railings, and operator areas.

· Oversee all vehicles are properly probed, serviced, and cleaned.

· Identify and report vehicle defects, including tire conditions and body damage, to general repair supervisors for evaluation and repair.

· Ensure employees follow established work methods, policies, and procedures; provide training as needed.

· Ensure all buses scheduled for service are properly fueled and cleaned.

· Review daily out-of-service and pullout reports to ensure no vehicles are missing.

· Conduct nightly spot checks of cleaned vehicles (minimum of 10% of total buses serviced)

· Maintain general housekeeping of the service area

· Report on conditions of service and washing areas to the Maintenance Manager

· Perform other duties aligned with the goals and objectives of the RTA

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent and 2 years’ paid experience in cleaning and servicing vehicles (cars, buses, heavy trucks) or housekeeping services

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

Valid Louisiana Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B with Passenger (P) endorsement and the ability to read and write legibly for reporting purposes. Must be proficient in communicating in English.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position frequently works in outdoor weather conditions and communicates information so that others will understand.
