EDM Wire Specialist I

What You Will Do

  • Set up and operate wire EDM machines to achieve +/-.0001 accuracy with supervision.
  •  Monitor machining processes and adjust maintain tolerances and surface finish requirements.
  • Achieve and maintain committed customer delivery dates and production schedules.
  • Beginner knowledge of tool design and understanding of fit and function of mold components.
  • Optimize cycle times and improve efficiency while maintaining quality standards 
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to EDM processes
  • Work with CNC, Toolmakers, and Polishing teams to ensure component readiness and accuracy.
  • Provide feedback on design for manufacturability and EDM feasibility.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure equipment is operating efficiently.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance cycle time and quality.

 

What You Bring

Core Qualifications

  • Associate or technical degree in machining, manufacturing technology, or related discipline OR a minimum of 5–10+ years of wire EDM experience. 
  • Advanced expertise in wire EDM setup, programming, and operation. 
  • Experience achieving tight tolerances.
  • Advanced understanding of EDM principles, electrode materials, and burn strategies. 
  • Advanced in blueprint reading and GD&T. 
  • Advanced experience with CAD software (Creo, Edrawings, Solidworks) preferred. 

     

Preferred Qualifications

  • EDM or Tool & Die related certification preferred. 
  • Completion of apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on experience is strongly preferred.

EDM Wire Specialist II

What You Will Do

  • Analyze CAD models, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine EDM machining approach with minimal supervision.
  • Set up, program, and operate wire EDM machines to achieve +/-.0001 accuracy with minimal supervision.
  • Develop and optimize EDM wire strategies in collaboration with EDM Wire Specialist III.
  • Monitor machining processes and adjust maintain tolerances and surface finish requirements.
  • Achieve and maintain customer committed delivery dates and production schedules.
  • Moderate knowledge of tool design and understanding of fit and function of mold components.
  • Optimize cycle times and improve efficiency while maintaining quality standards 
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to EDM processes
  • Work closely with CNC, Toolmakers, and Polishing teams to ensure component readiness and accuracy.
  • Coordinate with Designers, Electrode Designer and management on edm and tooling approach.
    Provide feedback on design for manufacturability and EDM feasibility.
  • Diagnose and resolve EDM machining issues, including wire inconsistencies, wire wear, and dimensional deviations.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure equipment is operating efficiently.
    Identify and implement process improvements to enhance cycle time and quality.

Compensation & Benefits

The expected salary range for the EDM Wire Specialist I is $22.00 – $30.00 hourly. The expected salary range for the EDM Wire Specialist II is $30.00-$37.00 hourly. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and geographic location.
