A Lab Technologist Supervisor at Montefiore New Rochelle oversees daily laboratory operations, manages staff, ensures regulatory compliance, and maintains quality control for testing blood and bodily fluids. Key duties include training personnel, validating results, maintaining equipment, and implementing policies to ensure accurate diagnostic services. 

Technical Skills

• Reviews current technical procedures and methodologies and recommends changes as needed.
• Maintains a working knowledge of all manual and automated procedures performed in the laboratory section.
• Understands and complies with all rules and regulations pertaining to your assigned   laboratory section.
• Reviews procedure manual for accuracy and compliance with current regulatory requirements.
• Reviews quality control systems and data.  Implements and monitors changes and corrective actions.
• Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies local, state and federal.
• Participates effectively in the Laboratory Q.I. Program.
• Provides assistance, guidance and expertise to the medical staff in regards to the section procedures, interpretation of test results and recommendation on test procedures.

Managerial Skills

• Prepares cost justification for new equipment and/or procedures.
• Recommends cost containment methods.
• Interviews vendors and evaluates proposals and claims of product performance.
• Assists in the preparation of the section operation budget.
• Reviews and monitors the variance in the section budget to reduce expenses.
• Prepares and evaluates regular and standing orders for supplies.
• Maintains an effective inventory control system in the section.
• Prepares the department staffing schedules utilizing the available resources.
• Prepares payroll accurately and timely.
• Attends departmental and Medical Center meetings as required.
• Completes special assignments accurately and timely.

Required Background

• Licensed Medical Technologist with a minimum of 5 years' experience as a technologist.  NYSED licensure required.
• Prior Experience in a leadership role
• Bachelors Degree in an applicable field
