Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources Operations, the HR Business Partner/HR Director provides assigned senior line management with a range of human resources services to support the business units in meeting their business objectives and business initiatives. The HR Business Partner consults with management in handling changing staffing requirements, employee relations issues and associates' needs. The HR Business Partner enlists and coordinates other appropriate HR specialty services as needed. This position is involved in the initial investigation and resolution of contractual disputes and grievances. This position is actively involved in developing short- and long-range planning for the business units.

Essential Functions
- Provide HR services that will assist line management within business units to utilize fully their human resources.
- Business Unit management will seek HR assistance for organization planning and counseling/resolution of issues.
- Frequency of HR requests and the evaluation of the response to those requests.
- Participate in staff meetings within assigned business units and represent each of these activities within the corporate human resources staff assuring as much human resources support as possible.
- To assist business units in focusing on their goals, answering questions and resolving issues.
- Take active and effective participation in staff meetings.
- Provide human resources consulting services to all levels of management within business units.
- Assist in employee relations.
- Review the courses of action recommended and taken.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships within the corporate human resources departments and utilize corporate expertise where appropriate. Assist key business unit management in organizational design.
- Work collectively with business units to ensure maximum human resources support to organization.
- Observe the utilization of all human resources departments.
- Assure that timely staffing support is provided the business units.
- The selection process is efficient and filling needs with qualified associates.
- Assure that staffing needs are met within reasonable timeframes.
- Maintain an effective cost control over items such as head count, employment requisitions, compensation actions and promotions.
- Allow for maximizing business units' efficiency and productivity within reasonable financial constraints.
- Review of employment requisitions, head count, merit reviews, personnel action forms, etc.
- Keep current with compensation trends to assure that all business units are aware of competitive compensation practices and requirements.
- Ensure compliance to compensation practices and requirements.
- Review and advise on compensation issues to make sure that positions are properly paid.
- Administer union contracts (1199 and NYSNA).
- Assist in employee and labor relations.
- Active support within various union issues and the resolution of such issues - review the labor climate.
- Maintain control and consistency in human resources practices.
- To assure a positive and fair employment environments.
- Review formal grievances and department success stories.
Qualifications
- Required
- Bachelors Degree
- 1-3 years of Human Resource experience
- 4-6 years of Healthcare related experience
- Knowledge of employment laws, labor relations, and HR best practices
- Ability to analyze data and metrics to report on HR performance
- Experience managing teams, budgets, and ability to guide staff development
- Preferred
- Masters Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or an applicable Masters level degree
- SHRM Membership and Certification
