Job Summary

Under the direction of radiologist and supervision of the Chief Technologist, performs CT, radiographic and fluoro procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgement, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for imaging diagnosis. Educates patients by describing and explaining the procedures as it relates to them

Essential Functions
  • Patient and Room Preparation: This task includes (a) Proper Identification of Patient. Use at least 2 patient identifiers. (b) Practices AIDET Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explaination and Thank You. (c) Entering patient data to RIS and other appropriate computer systems as necessary (d) Placing the patient on the scan table in the correct posiition for the scan to be performed ( e) Choosing the appropriate Protocol based on the body part to be examined. (f) Obtain appropriate scout image for procedure. Able to recognize normal as well as abnormal pathology.
  • Obtain cross sectional images: This task includes the proper setting of protocols and sequences to obtain high quality images for diagnosis by the radiologist. View all exams to assure image quality
  • Direct involvement during procedure: This task involves. a) Assisting the radiologist during procedures as needed. (b) Contstant attention to the progression of the procedure while in the control room, monitoring progression of biopsy procedure. c) Prepare syringes with IV contrast using aseptic technique
  • Post processing of scan data, including, retrospective, coronal, mips and sagittal reformats.
  • Maintain all necessary records of consent metiformin, pregnancy verification forms.
  • Observe all rules and regulations regarding radiation safety for patients and staff
  • Performs Quality Improvement.
  • Performs terminal cleaning and maintains cleaning log. (PDI Sani-cloth)
  • Monitor and maintain performance of all equipment.
  • Correlation of x-rays, lab results and other clinical data.
  • Practices SBAR - Situation Background Assessment and Recommendation.
  • Follows downtime procedures.

Qualifications
  • High School Required
  • AS Preferred
  • Radiographic exposure equipment.
  • ARRT Required
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist - Injection Required
  • Certification by the ARRT (CT) Required
