General Summary of Duties

The CT Technologist is responsible for performing specialized CT imaging tasks, preparing patients, and ensuring high-quality diagnostic images while maintaining patient safety.

Essential Functions

  • Greet patients and provide clear instructions regarding procedures

  • Schedule patients and assist with clerical functions

  • Perform CT imaging tasks using scanners, injectors, and related equipment in compliance with radiation safety standards

  • Position patients appropriately and adjust equipment for individualized exposures

  • Prepare and administer contrast media and barium

  • Monitor and report equipment malfunctions

  • Ensure exams meet quality standards; process and label images accurately

  • Train and mentor new CT technologists and student technologists

  • Provide compassionate care for patients and families throughout the exam process

Education

  • Graduate of an AMA-approved school of radiologic technology

Experience

  • Minimum of one year of experience in radiography and/or CT

Certifications & Licensure

  • State of Florida Radiologic Technologist License

  • ARRT certification in Radiography (RT(R)) required

  • ARRT certification in CT preferred, or must be obtained within 12 months of employment

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficiency with CT procedures and protocols

  • Strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and radiation safety

  • Experience with radiologic equipment, QA, and troubleshooting

  • IV placement and management

  • PACS and image processing proficiency

  • Emergency response skills (AED, crash cart, oxygen usage)
