KPF, a global architecture practice headquartered in New York City, is seeking a Senior Designer in New York City. This role partners closely with Design Directors and Project Managers to advance conceptual and schematic design, develop high‑quality 2D and 3D presentations for internal and client audiences, and collaborate across disciplines to ensure design excellence throughout all project phases.


Primary Responsibilities:

Design & Planning

  • Contribute to master planning, site planning, and building design through high‑quality digital and physical design exercises.
  • Develop conceptual and schematic design proposals, project layouts, and 3D models using Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, and other design tools.
  • Prepare compelling presentation materials, including diagrams, renderings, models, and design narratives for client and internal review.

Technical & Project Support

  • Support project coordination activities, including design calculations, compliance research, zoning and code analysis, and specification review.
  • Assist in the preparation of construction documents, architectural detailing, and technical drawings.
  • Participate in construction administration by reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, evaluating material submittals and mockups, and conducting periodic site visits.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Provide design direction and mentorship to junior and intermediate team members.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, contributing to a positive, high‑performance project environment.
  • Present design concepts and project updates clearly and confidently to internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
  • 10+ years of relevant architectural design experience
  • Strong conceptual design skills supported by excellent visual, verbal, and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to develop, communicate and present design concepts to project teams.
  • Strong communication and excellent graphic presentation skills
  • Ability to speak and make presentations in front of large project team groups.
  • Proficiency in Revit, Rhino, AutoCad, Adobe Creative Suite is required.  Grasshopper experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience with site planning, zoning analysis, and relevant code compliance.
  • Construction Administration experience a plus
  • LEED accreditation and architectural license preferred.


 

Work Environment:

This position requires you to be in person in our New York office 5 days per week.

Pay Range:

$102,500.00 - $125,000.00 Annual
