Assistant Controller

Position: Assistant Controller

Reports to: Controller

Salary Range: $65,000k - $75,000k per year

FLSA Status: Salary Exempt

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm

Pratt Industries, the world’s largest, privately-owned paper and packaging company and the only major company in the USA, which is 100% post-consumer recycled has a position available for a focused and detail oriented Staff Accountant in their corrugated facility located in Staten Island, NY.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage the purchase order, billing, and accounts payable functions, with communication within a shared services environment.
• Prepare requests for new customer in SAP.
• Maintain clean AR aging.
• Prepare/process customer invoices and send to customers.
• Daily and weekly operating reporting
• Process journal ledge entries, including uploading entries in electronic journal format
• Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
• Provide accounting and administrative support to the plant controller, as well as other managers when necessary.
• Fill in for the plant controller in time of absence
• Prepare adhoc report requests
• Participate in miscellaneous projects as assigned
• Prepare daily financial status excel reports with tight deadline
• Liaise with sales, customer service and shipping departments to resolve past dues and partial payment issues with customers.

Minimum Requirements:

• 1 - 2 years of accounting experience in a similar role
• Bachelors Degree in accountancy or related field
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy with numbers.
• Proactive, team driven player with the ability to work independently.
• Experience utilizing computer systems including excel and other Microsoft programs.
• SAP experience will be an advantage.
