Position Summary

The Office of Events at the School of Professional Studies (SPS) is seeking an Assistant Director, Conferences and Events to plan, execute, and evaluate industry conferences, seminars, career and admissions events, and special programs. Facilitate all aspects of events management including facilities, budgeting, participant communications, and vendor relations and payments. Research best practices and innovative event technologies and strategies; supervise administrative aides and generate reports for management. This position includes occasional travel, light lifting, and evening and weekend work. 

Qualifications

Required Education:Bachelor's DegreePreferred Education:Certified Meeting Planner or Master's degree in Marketing or Event Management.Required Experience:5+ years related experience in conference and event development and management, budget and staff supervision or equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred Experience:Experience developing and managing conferences and events in higher education.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Superior analytical, communicative, event and project management, multi-tasking, proofreading and copyediting, and Microsoft Office suite skills. Strong database management and tracking, presentation, and public speaking skills. Ability to understand social media vehicles and to communicate on various platforms. Strong ability to work independently and across diverse student and alumni populations, institutional offices and vendors, and professional organizations and associations. Some evening and weekend work is required. Some travel may be required. Light lifting and transporting of on- and-off campus event items may be necessary.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $77,000.00 to USD $83,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
