Position Summary

The Assistant Merchandiser supports the Senior Merchandiser in managing and organizing the day-to-day operations behind ULAC's apparel lines, from costing and product data through seasonal line planning and calendar management. This role serves as a key point of coordination between vendors, cross-functional partners in design, product development, and production, and the merchandising team, ensuring product information, pricing, and timelines are accurate and on track. The ideal candidate is motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven apparel environment.

Functional Responsibilities

  1. Operational Tasks
  • Work closely with vendors to request and ensure timely delivery of costing, and develop and maintain a costing database, capturing and organizing product cost data, supplier information, and pricing details.
  • Ensure timely and accurate data entry and maintenance of product information within PLM, including styles, materials, colors, sizes, pricing, and related attributes from initial design concept through seasonal buys.
  • Assist in the development of seasonal line plans, and create and maintain seasonal calendars, tracking important dates and deadlines across several apparel lines and product distributions.
  1. Communication and Collaboration 
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, such as design, product development, and production, to gather and communicate product details and updates.
  • Assist the Senior Merchandiser in monitoring and tracking actual costs against historical costs, identifying cost variances and communicating corrective actions as needed.
  1. Innovation & Continuous Improvement 
  • Monitor market trends and competitor pricing strategies to make informed recommendations on pricing.
  • Continuously review and enhance operational processes to drive efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify inefficiencies and recommend practical improvements to merchandising workflows.
  1. Professional Growth & Skill Development 
  • Build deeper expertise in PLM systems and costing methodologies through hands-on data management and close partnership with the Senior Merchandiser.
  • Grow familiarity with market and competitor pricing analysis, building a broader understanding of merchandising strategy over time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of company needs and operations, growing broader cross-functional merchandising experience over time.


Education/Qualifications

  • REQUIRED
    • Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising or a related field and 1-3 years of relevant merchandising experience. 
    • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (advanced Excel).
    • Excellent organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks and workload seamlessly, with keen attention to detail and follow-up.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as required for effective interpersonal collaboration.

Experience

  • REQUIRED
    • Experience working in PLM software platforms.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively under critical time frames and on multiple assignments.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, applying good work habits to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the company/department.
  • PREFERRED
    • Experience with Exenta/Revo PLM platforms is a plus.
    • Adobe Creative Suite skills are a plus.
