Job Summary 

The assistant merchandiser/developer position is an entry-level job position, with the potential to grow within the department. They will work closely with the Merchandising Manager and Product Development Manager to merchandise and develop existing and new products across all categories and brands. They will manage brand approvals and sample trackers including but not limited to ordering from the factory, sending to sales/buyers, and setting up showrooms.

The assistant merchandiser/developer should also be able to work independently and perform all other tasks delegated by their manager, including but not limited to providing general administrative and clerical support to the Accessories team such as organizing files for product development/design, mailing out samples/lab dips, and assisting with ad-hoc projects.

Brands include PUMA, Champion, Scotch & Soda, etc.
Categories include bags, hats, sporting goods, hydration, etc.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Assist with daily communication to overseas vendors on delegated product development matters
  • Strict attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Manage brand approval submissions and photography
  • Set up and manage sample trackers (inbound and outbound)
  • Proven ability to organize large amounts of information using Excel
  • Tag and organize samples for market and meetings
  • Proactive attitude, team player
  • Aids design, merchandising, and development teams (show room set up, sample preparations, shipping label requests/sending packages out to suppliers, etc.)
  • Maintains consistency and accuracy of information flow cross-functionally
  • Provides project status updates to management on request
  • Organize and maintain materials for development teams (standard binders, color & fabric libraries, file cabinets, shipping forms, etc.)
  • Perform any other duties as assigned in support of the company's needs and operations
  • Evaluate ways to improve processes cross-functionally
  • Stay up to date on current trends including but not limited to trend shopping in stores

Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in fashion, merchandising, product development or related area 
  • Related internship experience preferred
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and Adobe and database systems
  • Excellent written and verbal skills as required for effective interpersonal communication with clients and other employees
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks and workloads seamlessly with keen attention to detail
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and ability to apply good work habits to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the company
  • Strong ability to adapt to evolving changes
  • Experience working with external 3rd party manufacturing partners is a plus
  • Experience working in PLM, Exenta and Basecamp is a plus.
