The Department of Clinical Laboratories at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Assistant Supervisor / TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist 1, Chemistry and Immunology. The successful candidate will:

  • Maintain compliance with departmental, hospital and regulatory requirements.
  • Function as Assistant Supervisor responsible for the operation of a laboratory.
  • Oversee day to day laboratory operations, review quality control, performance improvement activities.
  • Performs clinical laboratory procedures and examinations and any other tests or procedures conducted by the chemistry and immunology labs. 
  • Demonstrate good knowledge of quality control, maintenance and troubleshooting on chemistry and immunology instruments. 
  • Assure timely performance of laboratory testing procedures.
  • Train personnel in technical methodologist and interpretation of result.
  • Record and archive operation test and QC results.
  • Maintain inventory and statistics.
  • Schedule and assign staff to specific job functions.
  • Assist in coordinating administrative operations for the laboratories.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and perform other job-related tasks as needed/required, as the duties and responsibilities are not limited to the above description.
