Overview
The Maimonides Research Collaborative (MRC) is a state-of-the-art centralized hub that catalyzes and supports high quality, innovative, collaborative research studies and clinical trials at Maimonides Health and its affiliates.
The Office of Biostatistics (OB) at plays an integral role to the success of the MRC by expanding the research capabilities of the institution and by providing core insight into research methodology, innovative data analysis and research education.
The MRC is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Biostatistician I to join the office of biostatistics. In this role, a successful candidate will provide statistical expertise and support to resident and fellow physicians, contributing to clinical research efforts aimed at improving patient care and advancing medical knowledge. This individual will work closely with the senior biostatistician and clinical teams to design and analyze small-scale studies, conduct sample size and power calculations, draft research protocols, and provide guidance on statistical methodology.
Responsibilities
- Collaboration with Clinical Teams: Work closely with resident and fellow physicians to provide statistical support in the development and execution of clinical research projects. Ensure research methodologies align with best statistical practices and research objectives.
- Protocol Development: Assist in drafting and reviewing research protocols, focusing on statistical design, including outcomes measurement, data collection strategies, and methodological approaches.
- Sample Size & Power Calculations: Perform sample size and power calculations to ensure appropriate study design. Communicate results and adjustments to study plans based on statistical recommendations.
- Data Analysis: Analyze clinical and research data from small-scale studies using appropriate statistical methods, ensuring accurate interpretation and reporting of findings. Prepare statistical reports and visualizations for presentation to clinical teams.
- Statistical Consultation: Provide statistical consultation to clinical staff, helping to interpret data and advising on statistical methods to address research questions.
- Training & Education: Participate in educating clinical residents and fellows about statistical principles, research methods, and data analysis techniques. Offer training on statistical software and data interpretation as needed.
Compliance & Documentation: Ensure adherence to ethical standards, regulatory guidelines, and hospital policies in all statistical analyses. Maintain thorough documentation of statistical methods, calculations, and analysesÂ
Qualifications
- Education:
- A Master’s degree or higher in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, or a related field.
- Experience in a healthcare or clinical research setting is preferred but not required.
- Experience:
- A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in biostatistics or related fields, with exposure to clinical research or healthcare data analysis.
- Proficiency in statistical software packages such as R, SAS, or SPSS. Familiarity with clinical data management systems is a plus.
- Experience conducting power and sample size calculations for clinical or biomedical studies.
- Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong understanding of statistical methodologies, particularly those applicable to clinical research (e.g., regression models, survival analysis, hypothesis testing).
- Ability to analyze small datasets and communicate results to non-statistical audiences.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex statistical concepts to clinicians and researchers.

Pay Range
USD $80,000.00 - USD $100,000.00 /Yr.
