Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice on payment laws, financial services regulations, data privacy, consumer protection, and enforcement actions for existing products and new features
- Develop strategic, long-term approaches to launching payment products and programs globally
- Assess legal risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and provide legal advice to product, engineering, risk, and compliance teams
- Monitor and conduct analyses of new regulations in the payments/financial services space to assess their applicability to the payments/financial products
- Support cross-functional efforts to engage with regulators and public policymakers for key financial regulatory areas
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in practicing privacy law, with a focus on data protection requirements applicable to payments, financial services, or consumer financial data
- J.D. Degree (or foreign equivalent) and active membership in at least one US state bar and eligibility to obtain registered in-house counsel status (if required by the State Bar in the assigned work location)
- Active bar membership in good standing in at least one jurisdiction
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
- Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
$202,000/year to $274,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
