About the Opportunity: Chelsea Piers is looking to hire a Building Engineer to support our growing business. You will be part of the hard working and dedicated team that keeps our businesses operating smoothly. In this role, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving maintenance and mechanical issues across the Chelsea Piers property. This role reports to the Chief Engineer. This is a non - union job.  As the Building Engineer, you will be expected to: Maintain Physical Plant and Equipment: Ensure all facility equipment and physical structures are in excellent condition, adhering to safety and operational standards. Mechanical Equipment Management: Manage the operation and maintenance of principal mechanical equipment such as pools, steam rooms, saunas, hot yoga rooms, HVAC systems, and elevators. Supervise Daily Operations: Oversee daily facility operations, including maintenance tasks and facility- side activities to ensure smooth operation. Crisis Management: Act as the primary point of contact for crisis and issue management, ensuring swift resolution and minimal disruption to operations. Vendor and Service Contract Management: Manage MEP vendors and service contracts, ensuring adherence to budget constraints while maintaining high-quality service delivery. Team Management: Supervise maintenance technicians to ensure task lists and general cleaning schedules are adhered to efficiently. Project Coordination: Manage and build project task lists, coordinating with maintenance staff to schedule work orders and ensure timely completion. Emergency Response: Utilize staff, service contracts, and emergency contact lists to rectify urgent repairs promptly and effectively. Safety and Compliance: Ensure all areas of the facility meet safety standards and operate smoothly, conducting regular inspections and implementing necessary improvements. Reporting: Provide comprehensive Daily Activity Reports on mechanical issues and activities to the Chief Engineer Vendor Relationships: Manage relationships with vendors and contractors, ensuring services are delivered according to agreed terms and resolving any issues promptly. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in facilities mechanical equipment management. Thorough understanding of building systems including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc., and ability to read and understand technical plans. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail. Creative problem-solving abilities and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Must be willing to obtain Certified Pool Operator (CPO, EPA 608 and Certificate of Fitness certifications as required. Must have or work to get a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) license and FDNY Fire Guard and Certificate of Fitness certifications Flexible schedule availability including weekends, holidays, and early morning/midday/late evening weekday shifts.
