Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Building Performance team is a collaborative and creative group of multi-disciplinary professionals. We provide professional consulting services that support innovative, high-performance projects in the built environment.

Our service areas include building performance engineering, building science, energy auditing, commissioning and energy management, sustainable design, infrastructure, and community development, and resilient design strategies. We work with public and private sector clients, covering multiple project types, sectors, and locations globally.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual that seeks a long-term career that focuses on expertise in building performance engineering. The successful candidate has an engineering background with a related graduate degree and two to five years of professional experience working in the Building Performance field.

You will work in an interdisciplinary team environment focusing on High-Performance Building Consulting that is part of the Stantec’s Building Specialty Services Group; primarily providing technical support to Stantec's building performance principles and senior consultants, and to implement and execute various Stantec building services that helps to meet the client’s project expectation and goals. Knowledge and industry experience with different building systems and system components such as HVAC system, building management system, lighting control, hydronic pumping system, and etc., is required, however knowledge and experience in energy modeling, decarbonization, technical analysis is a plus.  You will be expected to work on various types of projects that require you to have or capable of learning various skillsets and technical knowledge within the high-performance building industry.

 

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Working with Stantec’s projects team leads to provide and execute high-performance building project objectives.
  • Evaluate fundamental engineering guidelines, code compliance requirements, and industry standards. 
  • Prepare commissioning deliverables and products including checklists, field reports, specifications, commissioning plans, commissioning report and writing sequences of operations. 
  • Assist in commissioning design reviews for mechanical, process, electrical and plumbing design and reviewing of MEP submittals. 
  • Assist with organizing and coordinating equipment startups and participate in field functional testing with contractors. 
  • Review operation & maintenance manuals and develop systems manual for all tested equipment. 
  • Track and over-see training of O&M staff. 
  • Execute and support field commissioning activities projects. 
  • If knowledgeable, maybe asked to carry out Whole Building Energy Modeling using IES Virtual Environment, eQUEST, EnergyPlus, or Trane Trace 700.
  • Conduct Building Energy & Water Benchmarking analysis.
  • Conduct detailed reviews of design documentation (drawings, plans, specs etc.) to confirm compliance with New York’s building performance requirements and applicable energy codes such as NYC Energy Conservation Code, Local Law 97, etc. 
  • Attend team meetings.
  • Participate in in-house activities.
  • Assist in the growth of high-performance building services in the local region.
  • Represent the company in a professional manner in all dealings with owners, architects, vendors, other design professionals and contractors. 

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
