Our Buying role is about taking calculated risks that create a buzz in the marketplace and supplying the products our consumers will love. This position maintains great vendor relationships, researches the market landscape, is innovative, and negotiates the best opportunities. You will work closely with our Planning, Allocation, Marketing, and Store Optimization teams while always keeping our target demographic in mind to provide compelling assortments that turn our customers' heads. Â
Responsibilities
- Work in conjunction with vendors and product development to establish a line of products that meets the needs of our customers, while maximizing sales, profit, and gross marginÂ
- Analyze sales reports and market trends to establish a pattern of projected salesÂ
- Work with the Allocation team to ensure proper distribution and allocation of productÂ
- Work with the Divisional Merchandise Manager (DMM) to plan line review studies and reports to build a product line for a given seasonÂ
- Prepare all reports for all budget and sales meetingsÂ
- Field travel to keep track of trends within the marketplaceÂ
- Vendor travel for pre-lines and product previewsÂ
- Work with the Logistics department and Buyers from other divisions to coordinate product deliveryÂ
- Effectively partner with Planning and Merchandising teams to develop financial plans for future seasonsÂ
- Manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines while remaining flexible to change prioritiesÂ
- Effectively interface with Senior Executives and make recommendationsÂ
- Creatively negotiate the best terms to maximize sales and profitsÂ
- Understand product, customers, and market & fashion trendsÂ
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferredÂ
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in retail and e-commerce buying processes and product life cycles requiredÂ
- Proficiency in software applications: Excel, Access, Word and PowerPointÂ
- Knowledge of Power BI or similar systems preferredÂ
- Knowledge of Oracle PeopleSoft or similar assortment tools preferredÂ
- Strong financial acumen and analytical skillsÂ
- Knowledge of retail buying process and product life cyclesÂ
- Demonstrates understanding of our product, customer, and fashion trendsÂ
- Creative thinkingÂ
- Relationship building Â
- Collaboration with team and cross-functional teamsÂ
- Ability to communicate clearly with peers and upper managementÂ
- Strong ability to be oriented and organizedÂ

Benefits
The annual base salary range is $105000 - $115000 / year. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive short term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Salary is one component of the Foot Locker, Inc. total compensation package, which includes the below.Â
