Provides pastoral care and spiritual support
Time: 50%Actively provides pastoral care and spiritual support to patients and caregivers in individual and group settings, and assists in the coordination of visitation of congregants by clergy and pastoral visitors from the larger religious community. Arranges for appropriate observance of religious days or holidays for patients and their loved ones, in accordance with the resources of the hospital. Documents interventions in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Collaborates with interdisciplinary team
Time: 15%Participates in departmental meetings, unit and interdisciplinary rounds on assigned units, and other hospital committees as deemed appropriate by their direct supervisor.
Serves as a resource and liaison to other departments, making and receiving referrals, and coordinates in the interdisciplinary team approach in the care of patients and their loved ones.
Actively contributes to the Spiritual Care Team day-to-day
Time: 15%Is an active and contributing member of the Spiritual Care Team, and participates in the regular and holiday 24 hour/7day per week on-call rotation for patient coverage.
Education
Time: 10%May educate staff about spiritual needs of patients and religious customs and observances of particular patient population. May engage in educational activities about spiritual care, with the pre-approval of the Spiritual Care Manager and Social Work Director. May author and/or co-author material relevant to spiritual care and education for lay and professional audiences.
Provides required data
Time: 10%Provides statistics and reports of all spiritual care activities on a regular basis, as required by the department or manager.
