Position Description:

Starwood Capital Group is seeking an entrepreneurial, proactive, and experienced real estate professional with a deep understanding of office and industrial sector trends and best practices to help the company drive its commercial investment strategy.  The Vice President will report to the Managing Director of U.S. Commercial Asset Management and he or she will work with the global asset management team, and related lines of business, to execute business plans and drive value for the U.S. commercial portfolio.   

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Create value and drive vertical asset strategy across office and industrial portfolios that span the risk spectrum;
  • Develop and monitor investment business plans and make tactical adjustments, when appropriate;
  • Demonstrate sound investment judgement and the ability to weigh the risk / reward of various strategic alternatives;
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses for asset repositioning, capital spending, leasing, staffing, and hold / sell decisions and present recommendations to senior executives;
  • Execute and manage commercial transactions of any size and complexity, including investment sales, leasing, repositioning, and refinancing;
  • Work cooperatively with the acquisitions team to evaluate pipeline deals and to develop investment strategies.  Assist with acquisitions due diligence and negotiation of governing documents.
  • Oversight and review of cash flow models, projection assumptions, and mark-to-market assumptions for quarterly investor reporting;
  • Manage, train, and mentor a multi-person team of analysts and associates;
  • Manage relationships with joint venture partners and third-party service providers, including property managers, lenders, and brokers,
  • Proactively contribute to firm initiatives, such as property technology implementation, AI adoption, and sustainability improvements
  • Deliver presentations to executive management and fund investors;
  • Actively participate in industry organizations, events, and conferences.

Qualifications: 

  • 7+ years relevant real estate experience in asset management, portfolio management, acquisitions, operations, development, or finance. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, real estate, finance or related area 
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Strong leadership skills and the potential to advance

Strong quantitative and technical skills, including real estate cash flow modeling experience
