Our menus reflect this attention to bringing nutritious, delicious food to those who need it most.  Position Overview The Hot Food Production Commis Chef plays a critical role in high-volume meal production, supporting the preparation and execution of over 1,000 meals daily. This role requires strong culinary fundamentals, strict adherence to standardized recipes, and a commitment to food safety and quality. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced production environment and contributes to a collaborative, team-oriented kitchen culture.  Responsibilities Food Preparation & Cooking – 45% Execute standardized recipes with precision to ensure consistency and quality Prepare and cook hot food items (chopping, sautéing, roasting, reheating, portioning) Support large-scale meal production aligned with daily output targets Ensure proper portioning and presentation standards Production Execution & Efficiency – 20% Follow daily production plans and direction from chefs and shift leads Maintain speed and efficiency while meeting production deadlines Assist in scaling recipes and adjusting workflows as needed Food Safety & Quality Control – 15% Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and GMP standards Monitor food temperatures and understand heat degradation during transport Ensure all products meet company quality standards before distribution Workstation Setup, Organization & Cleanliness – 10% Set up and break down stations with required tools, ingredients, and equipment Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked work areas throughout shifts Follow proper cleaning and sanitation procedures Team Collaboration & Communication – 10% Communicate effectively with team members and leadership Support team workflow and assist in resolving production challenges Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude in a fast-paced environment QualificationsRequired Qualifications 1+ year of high-volume food prep, packaging, or kitchen production experience Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods Strong multitasking and time management skills Preferred Qualifications NY Food Handler’s Certificate/Card Bilingual (English/Spanish) Experience in commissary or large-scale food production kitchens Key Competencies Strong knife skills and understanding of cooking techniques Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistency at scale Efficient in high-volume, deadline-driven environments Works well in a diverse, fast-paced team setting Able to adjust to changing production needs and priorities Punctual, dependable, and self-motivated Role Details Title: Commis Chef Location: East Williamsburg, Brooklyn Facility  Schedule: Monday–Friday & Sunday shifts available starting as early as 6am Reports to: Executive Sous Chef Compensation: $19 - $20 DOE Benefits Medical insurance Sick leave Paid time off that increases with tenure 401(k) Daily family meal  Potential for bonuses through our Green Shares employee bonus program Eligibility and details subject to company policy   Green Top Farms is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
