Overview

The Community Liaison and Family Advocate work in close partnership to ensure families in the FEC catchment area are aware of, can access, and remain meaningfully engaged with the FEC. While their roles are complementary, they serve distinct core functions. 

The Community Liaison leads external outreach to promote equitable awareness of, and access to, the FEC, particularly seeking to reach new families who may be isolated or disconnected from support. They also lead outreach and ongoing management of relationships with external community partners and resources. The Family Advocate focuses on engagement within the FEC, building sustained relationships, implementing communication and engagement strategies, and supporting families in strengthening protective factors and connecting to supports. 


Key Responsibilities 

  • Design and implement strategic external outreach to families, community members, and community entities using community data, local knowledge, and feedback from community members. 
  • Continuously assess and adapt outreach strategies to reach new and less connected parents and caregivers.
  • Representing the FEC at community events and venues.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, schools, local coalitions, and other institutions to strengthen trust, collaboration, and visibility.
  • Develop and distribute accessible, inclusive outreach materials in multiple languages using culturally affirming messages to promote the FEC and increase participation among diverse families.
  • Ensure that outreach and engagement practices reflect the FEC’s core values of equity, inclusiveness, and co-design.
  • Support the Family Advocate and FEC’s ability to connect individual caregivers and families to local resources, services, and other supports.
  • Communicate information about FEC Offerings and events to the community through various channels (e.g., FEC website, newsletters, social media, flyers).
  • Facilitate and co-design Offerings and other FEC activities with families, using Appreciative Inquiry and other strength-based tools. 
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree AND three (3) years of professional experience;
    • OR High school diploma AND five (5) years of professional experience in community-driven-programs with children, youth, and families.

Position Type/Expected Work Hours

This is a full- time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday at assigned location. Work hours options are any 8 hour shift between 9:00 am and 8:00 pm. Some weekend available, as needed.

  • Ability to work in-person in New York City (NYC)
  • Ability to travel to other Rising Ground Sites (if required)
