Sonic Summary

info
  • The role involves owning local event marketing for Barry's in the New York market, focusing on creating first-class experiences for new customers.
  • Candidates should have at least 4 years of experience in community, field, or event marketing, preferably in fitness or wellness.
  • The position requires strong project management skills and a familiarity with the New York area to build local partnerships.
  • The successful applicant will be responsible for executing events on-site, managing logistics, and ensuring a positive experience for first-time attendees.
  • The salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience.

About the role

Barry's grows one first class at a time. Someone walks in, finds their spot in the Red Room, and leaves knowing they'll be back. Your job is to create as many of those first classes as possible.

You'll own local event marketing across the New York market- in-studio community nights and bring-a-friend classes, plus out-of-studio pop-ups, run clubs, and partnerships with local brands, employers, and buildings. Every event is measured the same way: how many people took their first class because of it, and how many came back.

What you'll do

  • Own the NYC event calendar across all studios, building a repeatable cadence of first-timer programming with Studio Managers and instructors, with a particular emphasis on New Studios
  • Design and execute out-of-studio activations and pop-ups in high-density neighborhoods and at local moments
  • Build a pipeline of local partnerships- brands, hospitality, retail, run clubs, corporate and residential buildings- that puts Barry's in front of qualified new audiences
  • Grow an NYC ambassador program and equip instructors to bring their networks in
  • Set targets and report on first-timer acquisition, cost per first-timer, and first-to-second-visit conversion; manage the local budget and event P&L

Event Execution

  • This role is on the ground, not just on the calendar. You're personally at the events you build, and you own getting everything there and back in one piece.
  • Physically attend and run every activation you own- in-studio and off-site- as the on-site lead, not remotely managed
  • Source, prep, and transport event materials- signage, sampling product, swag, tech, tables- to and from studios and off-site venues, using your own vehicle or approved local transport
  • Lead setup and breakdown at each activation yourself, or delegate and directly brief Studio Managers, instructors, or ambassadors when you're covering multiple sites in the same window
  • Own day-of logistics with venues, building management, and vendors- load-in windows, storage, permitting, and on-the-fly troubleshooting when plans change

Qualifications

  • 4+ years in community, field, or event marketing- ideally fitness, wellness, hospitality, or a consumer brand with physical locations
  • A track record of events tied to hard acquisition numbers, not just attendance
  • Deep familiarity with New York and existing local relationships you can activate
  • Strong project management and comfort with data
  • Willingness to be hands-on and in studio
  • Reliable local transportation and the ability to lift and haul event materials- this is a physical, on-your-feet role across multiple sites in a single day
