Job Title: COOK (Full-time)- BOOM!HEALTH

Job Summary:

The responsibility of the Cook is to prepare congregate meals for any one of our nine congregate meal programs at our eight service locations in Manhattan and Bronx. He/she reports to the Lead Chef.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Execute detailed assigned menus, using ingredients as directed by the Lead Chef.
  • Prepare assigned meals in compliance with New York City Department of Health food safety regulations.
  • Wash and clean pots after prepping and cooking food
  • Prepare and/or supervise the preparation of all primary recipe ingredients including, but not limited to: washing, coring, paring, and slicing of ingredients.
  • Up-hold and ensure that kitchen aids follows food safety/sanitization requirements.
  • Supervise weekend meal preparation and kitchen duties.
  • Communication with manager on site for weekend issues and/or meal changes.
  • Participate in interdepartmental meetings intended to enhance program service delivery.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications/Criteria:

  • New York State Food Handlers Permit are required.
  • Must have a minimum of two years in food preparation and cooking.
  • Ability to work independently and under time-constraint pressures.
  • Good supervisory skills.
  • Flexible. Ability to work with a diverse client population.
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication.
  • Available to from 12:00pm to 8:00pm and Saturdays

Education:

  • High School graduate
