General Summary:

Provides accounting, budget, and financial reporting for RGDC's development entities. Extensive general ledger account analyses and all other accounting procedures in order to produce timely and accurate financial statements.

Summary of Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the proper coding of invoices to ensure expenditures are reflected in the correct general ledger accounts
  • Prepares and inputs monthly journal entries into Yardi general ledger system
  • Processes funding requests and draw requests for projects with construction loans.  Works with project accountant to ensure complete and timely loan draws are prepared and vendors are paid in a timely manner
  • Tracks costs against Investment Committee approved budgets
  • Prepares monthly bank reconciliations. Works with Transaction Services to clear all reconciling items on a timely basis
  • Assists with the preparation and distribution of monthly financial reports for development companies internally and to external partners
  • Assists internal and external auditors with annual and all interim audits. Prepares supporting schedules required by auditors
  • Performs special analytical and accounting studies as assigned
  • Assists in the preparation of monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheet and cash flow statements
  • Assists in the proper coding of invoices, including analysis and reconciliation to ensure expenditures are reflected in the correct general ledger accounts
  • Assists with any audits of construction costs
  • Reconciles costs on Development Project Cost System to general ledger
  • Reconciles intercompany balances and transactions
  • Interacts with general accounting personnel and the development teams across the various regions
  • Assists with the transaction closing process, review settlement statements for purchases and sales, prepares opening entries/gain on sale calculations
  • Interacts with joint venture partners to ensure information received is accurate and proper accounting principles are followed
  • Reviews JV funding requests and draw requests for projects with construction loans for completeness and accuracy
  • Enhances professional and personal development
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree Required

Preferred field of education: Accounting

Experience / Knowledge / Skills Requirements:

  • 0-2 years experience in the accounting field.  Public accounting experience preferred
  • Familiar with US GAAP preferred
  • Computer literacy required, including proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet programs in Windows environment.  Proficiency with Excel and Word required
  • Knowledge of Yardi accounting software preferred but not required.  Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from internal and external sources
  • Ability to read, write and thoroughly understand and apply financial data
  • Ability to effectively present financial information to management and employees in written and verbal format
  • Writing skills are very important
  • Ability to work long, irregular hours as necessary

Licenses / Certifications Requirements:

Meets educational requirements to sit for CPA exam, preferred
