The Position:

The Business Transformation team serves as LMI's operating model and process design capability. Reporting to the Head of Business Transformation, this role serves as a strategic partner to senior leaders across the enterprise, helping design the operating models, governance structures and business capabilities that enable execution of LMI’s 2030 strategy. The role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution, with depth in operating model and process design and a bias toward enabling near-term execution while shaping long-term direction. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable facilitating executive workshops, assessing complex investment lifecycles, designing governance frameworks, developing business capabilities and leading implementation efforts that deliver measurable business outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise design engagements. Lead complex, cross-functional engagements from discovery through implementation. Frame problems, align stakeholders, develop recommendations, and translate strategic objectives into operating models, roadmaps, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Partner across Strategy & Execution. Operate within GIS Strategy & Execution, which brings together Business Transformation, Program Management, and Vendor Management. Lead both standalone organizational design engagements and serve as the embedded design partner on Program Management-governed programs, contributing operating model, capability, and governance design within a shared delivery model.
  • Design target operating models. Develop target operating models that define operating processes, governance frameworks, decision rights, roles and responsibilities, and accountability models across investment and operational functions, including the organizational structures that support them.
  • Drive process and business architecture. Assess and mature business capabilities and the processes that run them across the enterprise, identifying gaps, dependencies, and opportunities to improve scalability, efficiency, and operational effectiveness. Establish capability-based frameworks that support strategic planning and prioritization.
  • Assess and optimize investment operations. Conduct end-to-end assessments of investment processes and operating workflows across public and private market asset classes. Identify root causes of operational challenges and develop practical, scalable solutions.
  • Establish governance and performance frameworks. Define governance structures, success metrics, KPIs, reporting cadences, and operating routines that enable sustainable execution, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate executive alignment. Lead workshops, working sessions, and stakeholder engagements that bring together diverse perspectives, build alignment, and accelerate decision-making across teams.
  • Advance AI-enabled ways of working. Identify and scale opportunities to apply AI-enabled tools and methods across the function, improving how engagements are delivered and enabling faster, more scalable analysis and design.
  • Bring external perspective and industry insight. Monitor industry trends, emerging operating models, technology innovations, and leading practices across asset management and financial services to inform strategic recommendations and future-state design.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years in asset management, investment operations, process design, operating model design, business architecture, or management consulting, with at least 3 years owning complex engagements end-to-end through a structured methodology.
  • Direct experience working in or advising asset management, institutional investing, insurance investment management, or investment operations organizations.
  • Deep understanding of institutional asset management and investment operations, including front-, middle-, and back-office operating models.
  • Experience supporting public and private market investment businesses, including credit, structured products, private markets, limited partnerships, alternatives, or related investment strategies.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex initiatives with enterprise-wide impact.
  • Experience designing and implementing operating models, governance structures, organizational frameworks, capability models, or large-scale business process redesigns.
  • Demonstrated fluency with AI-enabled tools applied to delivery work, such as synthesizing interview readouts, drafting process maps and operating model artifacts, and generating RACIs and other structured deliverables.
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence senior leaders and facilitate alignment across competing priorities.
  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, solve complex problems, and drive measurable results.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience within a leading asset manager, insurance investment organization, institutional investment platform, or top-tier consulting firm serving investment management clients.
  • Expertise in business architecture, capability modeling, organizational design, operating model design, or enterprise methodologies.
  • Experience supporting strategic initiatives involving operating model modernization, business capability development, data transformation, product operating models, investment platform modernization, or organizational redesign.
  • Familiarity with investment platforms and technologies such as SimCorp, Aladdin, Anaplan, eFront, EDM, Wall Street Office, Moody's, or related systems.
  • Advanced degree in Business, Finance, Organizational Effectiveness, Strategy, or a related discipline.
  • Most transformation roles stop at strategy or org charts. We design how an entire investment organization operates and then help put it into practice.
  • You will work across investment teams, operations, finance, product, data and technology to solve some of LMI’s most complex strategic challenges, from defining target operating models for emerging asset classes to establishing governance frameworks for enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • The team works from a codified methodology, including a target operating model playbook, a capability evolution playbook and a 26-deliverable framework for operating model engagements, so design work is rigorous and repeatable rather than reinvented for each engagement. Your work will directly influence how LMI scales, executes and competes in the years ahead. If you are energized by solving complex organizational problems, shaping enterprise strategy and building the operating models that enable investment organizations to perform at their best, we encourage you to apply.
