About the Role

Join Willow Wealth’s new Chief Investment Officer as a Director, Commercial Real Estate in our New York office. You will work with the CIO to identify, analyze, execute, and manage various CRE investment opportunities across North America supplied by investment partners. These investments may comprise equity, debt, preferred equity, 3rd party funds, and co-invest opportunities, though the current emphasis is on mezzanine debt and preferred investments, not equity. You will need to possess relevant experience and a vested interest in working on complex transactions across property types and the entire capital structure.


Willow Wealth has a highly flexible mandate in terms of target geographies, asset classes, and investment structures. You will be working on a small team with significant growth runway, providing candidates with the opportunity to work in a flat environment that encourages team members to expand their skillsets.


Key Responsibilities

  • Screening, reviewing the underwriting of real estate investment opportunities across the capital stack and in various geographies, particularly mezzanine debt and preferred investments
  • Reviewing investment memorandums / presentations detailing deal merits, financial metrics, risks and mitigants, and market data
  • Executing transaction legal documentation and deal closing & funding
  • Providing ongoing asset management in partnership with investment partners
  • Interface with significant limited partners regarding investment opportunities and existing positions
  • Build and maintain relationships with potential partners and industry participants
  • Work in collaboration with various departments (such as Marketing, Digital, Operations, etc.) to facilitate the closing and launch of transactions on Willow Wealth’s platform
  • Traveling as needed for the role


Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of investment experience in real estate investments
  • Experience in real estate asset management - experience with opportunity zone investments preferred
  • Extensive complex financial modeling experience and strong understanding of finance / real estate concepts
  • Experience with transactions involving multi-tiered capital structures, joint venture waterfalls or similar structures
  • Familiarity with major concepts and structures in loan documents, intercreditor agreements and joint venture agreements
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills, with an ability to envision the “big picture” while maintaining a hands-on approach and close attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively at all levels within an organization
  • A proactive self-starter mindset with an ability to manage competing workstreams / deliverables in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work seamlessly in a cross-functional team environment spanning multiple disciplines

This is a New York-based role. The base salary range for this position is USD 200,000 to 230,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. This role is eligible for a discretionary bonus and equity compensation as part of the total compensation package.
