Position Overview

S:US Is seeking a Director of Social Services for their men's shelter in Brooklyn.

 

This position is located at Blake Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11208

 

 

The Director of Social Services will:

 

  • Work with Shelter staff to identify unmet needs among shelter residents. Develop plans to engage residents in supplementary services
  • Develop and identify a schedule of “groups of various content conducted within and outside of the facility
  • Provide crisis intervention services and if necessary, refer clients for psychiatric assessment
  • Maintain updated information about mental health, substance abuse treatment and other social services in the community
  • Be a resource to Case managers and their clients
  • Work with clients and case managers in developing treatment plan and identifying community based referrals for client to continue treatment after leaving the shelter
  • Maintain data about service utilization
  • Provide administrative and clinical supervision to staff
  • Attend, participate, and facilitate regular staff trainings and meetings
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy regarding all clients’ information
  • Complete incident reports in accordance with policy and procedures
  • Report any abuse/neglect in accordance with policy and procedure
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the clients on a daily basis
  • Work cooperatively with entire team to carry out the program goals and objectives for each client
  • Understand and implement the agency’s philosophy, policies and mission
  • Comply with all SUS Employee and Corporate Compliance Policies, Procedures, and Protocols
  • Comply with NYS Dept. of Social Services Rules, Regulations, and Statutes

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree required  
  •  2+ years of Managerial/Supervisory experience.
  • Flexibility including evening and weekend hours required.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • LMSW/LCSW or LMHC preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.
