Description

Founded in 1866, The Floating Hospital, is one of the last remaining charity hospitals in New York City. Our commitment is the same as it was 160 years ago: unrestricted healthcare to all who walk through our doors, regardless of identity, insurance status, or

the ability to pay. We welcome individuals of all ages, from infants, school-age children (5+), youth and adults. The Floating Hospital is a Federally Qualified Health Center and the largest provider to homeless families living in family shelters and domestic violence safe houses throughout all five boroughs.

  • Review transportation schedules and check daily pick-ups with the Transportation Manager.
  • Drive clients to and from residences for medical, dental, and mental health appointments.
  • Perform clerical outreach tasks and schedule appointments as needed; perform in-site outreach activities.
  • Keep appropriate logs on vehicle mileage and maintenance and outreach activities.
  • Maintain outreach vehicles in clean working order, including coordinating regular maintenance and repair with the Transportation Manager.
  • Keep in constant contact with caseworkers at public housing projects.
  • Transportation Manager may assign other duties, assignments, and special projects on an as needed basis.

Requirements

  • High School diploma.
  • Experience working with at-risk population.
  • Bilingual, English/Spanish preferred
  • Good communication skills.
  • Valid New York State Commercial Driver’s License and good driving record.
