EC006 - Weekend Nanny - Manhattan

Overview

A private Manhattan family is seeking an experienced live-in weekend nanny for their two young children, ages six months and three years. The parents enjoy spending plenty of time with their children on weekends and are looking for a nanny who will become a trusted and valued part of their household. 

The schedule is Friday at 8:00 a.m. through Monday at 8:00 a.m., with an immediate start preferred. Both parents have busy schedules, so the nanny will have periods of sole responsibility for both children, as well as shared care. At times, the parents will take the children out, allowing the nanny extended breaks. A separate apartment in the building is available for daytime breaks, and the nanny will have a private bedroom in the family’s main residence.

The children follow consistent routines and generally sleep through the night, although the nanny will remain on call and handle any wakings. The family values unstructured play and does not expect the nanny to plan constant activities. They are seeking someone relaxed, calm and intuitive who can confidently navigate a busy household while remaining composed and contributing to a positive environment. The ideal candidate will use their initiative without requiring constant direction and naturally understand when to assist and when to give the family space.

The family may travel for occasional weekends away, primarily on short domestic trips, and the nanny will be expected to accompany them. On occasion, the parents may travel without the children, in which case the nanny will assume full proxy-parenting responsibility for the weekend.

There are other staff members in the household, including a weekday nanny.

Responsibilities

• Provide attentive and developmentally appropriate care for both children
• Manage morning, nap, evening and bedtime routines
• Handle overnight wakings, including when a child is unwell
• Prepare meals and snacks for the children
• Complete child-related tidying and organization
• Manage Friday preschool drop-off and pickup
• Work comfortably in both sole-charge and shared-care settings
• Accompany the family on occasional weekend trips
• Assume full proxy-parenting responsibility when the parents travel without the children

Qualifications

• Strong infant, preschool and sibling experience
• Previous live-in and overnight childcare experience
• Excellent judgment and the ability to remain composed under pressure
• Proactive and confident working independently
• Intuitive awareness of family dynamics and appropriate professional boundaries
• Driving and swimming abilities preferred
• Hindi language skills are a plus

Requirements

• Minimum of ten years of professional nanny experience
• Fluent English
• Current infant and child CPR and first-aid certification
• Excellent, verifiable professional references
• Willingness to work the full live-in weekend schedule and remain on call overnight
• Willingness to travel occasionally
• Legal authorization to work in the United States

Salary and Benefits

• $700+ per day, depending on experience
