Salary Range: $115,000 - $140,000

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator with ~10+ years of experience specializing in electrical construction. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in electrical estimating and electrical scope development across all phases of design—from conceptual budgeting through GMP and bid execution.

This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, constructability, and cost drivers, as well as the ability to lead electrical estimating efforts independently while collaborating with internal teams, engineers, and trade partners.

Responsibilities / Essential Functions
  • Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for a variety of projects, at varying levels of design including conceptual estimates, SD/DD/CD estimates, bid proposals, and Guaranteed Maximum Prices (GMPs).
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure estimates align with project goals and budgets.
  • Review architectural and engineering drawings to determine project requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry costs, material pricing, and labor rates.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate electrical cost estimates across all phases of design, including conceptual, SD, DD, CD, bid, and GMP deliverables.
  • Develop and manage electrical scope narratives, assumptions, qualifications, and exclusions to support estimates and risk mitigation.
  • Analyze electrical systems including:
    • Utility service and coordination
    • Medium- and low-voltage distribution
    • Emergency/standby power (generators, paralleling gear, UPS)
    • Lighting and lighting controls
    • Grounding, bonding, and life safety systems
    • Low-voltage systems (Divisions 27/28) as required for scope alignment.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing for major electrical components including switchgear, feeders, branch distribution, equipment connections, lighting, and low voltage systems.
  • Evaluate subcontractor proposals, conduct bid leveling, and support procurement strategy for electrical trades.
  • Review design documents to identify scope gaps, inconsistencies, and cost/schedule impacts.
  • Lead electrical pricing for large-scale projects such as healthcare, life sciences, residential, data centers, higher education, and commercial buildings.
  • Coordinate with estimating team members across MEP trades to ensure complete and coordinated system pricing.
  • Maintain and update electrical cost databases, unit pricing, and historical project benchmarks.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities, constructability improvements, and cost-saving alternatives.
  • Support master planning, feasibility studies, and infrastructure assessments for electrical systems.
Key Skills
  • Strong knowledge of electrical trade, with some experience with other MEP systems (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing).
  • Experience developing estimates for conceptual/preliminary plans, design development and GMPs.
  • Familiarity with decarbonization and sustainable construction techniques.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively coordinating with a team.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Required Experience
  • BS or MS in Engineering or Construction Management with a minimum of 3 years of experience in estimating field.
  • 10+ years of experience in construction estimating (contractor or CM/GC environment preferred).
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft office, especially Excel.
  • Proficiency in specialized estimating software.
  • Understanding of the influence of market conditions on pricing.
