Responsibilities
East Side Endoscopy is premier endoscopy center with 5 room procedures rooms. An average of 50-60 procedures are performed daily. The Endoscopy Technician assists the physician during endoscopic procedures. These duties include setting up all equipment and supplies, performing maneuvers as needed, intraprocedural documentation in the patient chart, and labeling specimens. In addition, the technician is responsible for preparing, cleaning, and turning over the rooms between procedures and maintaining par levels of all supplies. The technician is also responsible for the care, and maintenance of all equipment in the procedure room and the pre-cleaning and reprocessing of the endoscopes.Ā

- Protecting the patient from injury caused by extraneous objects and chemical, electrical, mechanical, and thermal sources.Ā
- Demonstrating safe operation of equipment and machinery and follows procedures for reporting and correcting an unsafe situation.Ā
- Speaking up with safety concerns acting as the patientās advocateĀ
- Handling specimens according to facility policy and procedures.Ā
- Adhering to standard precautions including the use of personal protective equipmentĀ
- Performing interventionsĀ to maintain the patientās wound and tissue perfusion at or above baselineĀ levelsĀ
- Performing interventions to protect the patient fromĀ infectionĀ
- Protecting the patientās rights, dignity, and privacyĀ
- Providing age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards of practice.Ā
- Complying with Universal Protocol and facility site validation and time-out policyĀ
- Assembling supplies and equipment required for theĀ procedure.Ā
- Preparing and organizing sterile supplies and instruments for theĀ procedure.Ā
- Providing instruments and supplies to theĀ endoscopistĀ during theĀ procedure.Ā Ā
- Maintaining an organized sterile field.Ā
- Evaluate the patientās progress toward attainingĀ outcomesĀ
- Provide hand-off report to other teammates that are accurate, concise and pertinent to the patientās condition andĀ response to care.Ā
- MaintainĀ endoscopy instruments and accessories in working order. Troubleshoots and recognizesĀ malfunctionsĀ
- Clean and prepareĀ equipment and instrumentsĀ for processing and transport them to the decontamination areas.Ā
- Ensure scopes are prepared for use in accordance with policies and procedures and manufacturerās instructions forĀ useĀ
- Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration skills with members of the team and other stakeholders.Ā
- Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary teamĀ in planning patient care.Ā
- Assist with post procedure cleaning of the procedure room and preparation of room for subsequent patients.Ā
- Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects.Ā
- Participate in the performance appraisal process.Ā
- Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships.Ā

Qualifications
- High SchoolĀ GraduateĀ orĀ equivalent.Ā
- Prior Experience asĀ a GI Tech preferred.Ā Ā Ā
- Successful completion of BCLS Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BCLS certification.Ā
