POSITION SUMMARYÂ
The Engineer Helper supports the operation and maintenance of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and related equipment to ensure optimal environmental control throughout the property. This role performs routine maintenance and responds to tenant service requests while assisting the Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer, and Chief Engineer as needed.
\n- Work in an organized, efficient manner while effectively multitasking
- Demonstrate strong initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Interpret and carry out instructions provided verbally, in writing, or via schedules
- Understand basic building system design and operation, including fire protection, domestic water, HVAC, and electrical distribution systems
- Assist with engineering projects, maintenance activities, and mechanical repairs
- Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance tasks
- Clean and maintain mechanical rooms, equipment, and tools
- Perform painting and other minor repairs as required
- Assist with routine maintenance tasks, including filter replacement and equipment lubrication
- Ability to visually inspect machinery and building areas and navigate stairwells.
- Ability to climb ladders and access areas above ceilings for inspection and airflow adjustments.
- Ability to detect emergency alarms, both audible and visual.
- Ability to move 55-gallon drums using a drum dolly with assistance from another staff member.
- Ability to safely work from an 8-foot A-frame ladder.
- Ability to carry five-gallon pails of various materials throughout the building.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- EPA CFC Certification
- Refrigeration/Operator’s License (Q-01)
- Fire Life Safety Director License (F-89)
- Standpipe and Sprinkler certifications. (S-12 and S-14)
- Pesticide Applicator (7G)
- Fireguard/Torch (F-60)
- Air Compressor (G-35)
