Transaction Advisory (aka Mergers & Acquisitions Advisory) encompasses all aspects of an M&A transaction from financial, tax and operational due diligence, to planning for and executing integrations and separations. Our Transaction Advisory services provide a holistic business approach to financial, human capital, supply chain, and IT due diligence disciplines, as well as comprehensive transaction management services that unite our diligence findings into actionable deal close planning. The Transaction Advisory intern is primarily responsible for working on financial due diligence engagements from start to finish, performing a variety of tasks in planning, execution, and completion phases of projects. The Transaction Advisory intern is also expected to learn to apply fundamental financial due diligence skills on assignments for both sell-side and buy-side clients from a variety of industries. The intern will work closely with staff, managers, and partners across service lines to provide services needed by examining and uncovering the detailed answers to complex questions about acquisitions and divestitures.

Your day-to-day may include:
As an intern you will have an opportunity to work alongside Partners, Senior Executives, and peers as a member of the engagement team.  Additionally, you will have an opportunity to learn new skillsets, be involved in office community activities, and build lasting relationships with members of the Grant Thornton team. Your experience will include, but will not be limited to, the following:
- Working on a variety of M&A transactions in varying industries (e.g., tech, professional services, consumer industrial goods, energy, retail and more)
- Attend and participate in meetings with the clients, target company management, private equity firms and investment bankers
- Manage data flow and monitor the dataroom
- Work with the offshore support team to build out an analysis package (e.g., excel model) to analyze and interpret financial data
- Build custom analyses with the guidance of Managers and Directors to identify key insights for our clients
- Drive forward the deal process, frequently communicating with key parties and managing internal and external deadlines.
- Sharpening your leadership and client communication skills
- In addition to deal execution, interns will also be involved in the following:
- Networking with your peers and connecting with other Grant Thornton employees through social events and team-building exercises
- Meeting with your mentor for regular feedback and professional development discussions
- Giving back to the community through outreach activities

You have the following technical skills or qualifications:Â
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.0/4.0
- The willingness and ability to work additional hours, as needed, and travel to various client sites
- Excellent analytical, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.Â
- Ability to analyze, interpret and summarize financial information and large datasets
- Strong technical aptitude and skillset
- Demonstrated project management skillset including project planning and time management
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a complex team environmentÂ

The pay rate for this position in the firm’s New York, Manhattan office is $40 per hour.
