The International Tax and Transaction Services practice is comprised of three competencies focused on advising corporate and private equity clients on all aspects of their capital agenda – Transaction Tax Advisory, International Corporate Tax Advisory and Transfer Pricing. ITTS is unique in that it is a joint venture between the Transaction Advisory Services and Tax service lines allowing ITTS to maximize market opportunities as well as the growth and development of ITTS professionals. The transactions market is a major part of EY’s market strategy and a huge opportunity for both the business and EY professionals.  With this many service offerings, you will have the opportunity to participate in cross-competency trainings to help develop your career through a broad scope of engagements, mentoring and formal learning.

The International Corporate Tax Advisory competency (ICTA) is responsible for advising clients on international tax operations, including cross-border controversy, international policy advisory, international tax quantitative services, internal restructuring and refinancing.

As a Senior in Cross Border Tax, you will advise on complex international tax matters, align multi‑jurisdictional tax areas through investment modeling, and support cross‑border methods, disputes, and corporate acquisitions. You will help foreign entities plan strategically and assess treaty, permanent establishment, and withholding implications to optimize global positions. Key points:

  • Lead cross‑border planning and restructuring
  • Review foreign income taxation, treaty implementation, and withholding
  • Provide jurisdiction‑specific reporting guidance

 

Your key responsibilities

Depending on your unique skills and ambitions, you could be managing various responsibilities, from technical planning to strategic advisory services. This is a highly regulated industry, so it’s all about maintaining our reputation as trusted advisors through sound judgment, technical excellence, and a commitment to delivering value to our clients.

Define and execute engagement deliverables while tracking status, economics, resources, and budgets. Participate daily in client work sessions as a workstream member, with opportunities to lead. Support sales (~5–10%), assist with RFPs, and maintain engagement‑economics reporting. Operate with limited supervision and guide junior team members. To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor’s degree required (4‑year degree)
  • Typically 2–4 years of relevant experience
  • Progress toward (or completion of) a valid CPA certification or licensed attorney status 
  • Tax due diligence, deal structuring, and post-acquisition planning experience and/or inbound and outbound transaction consulting with international tax research, planning and compliance experience 
  • Experience managing budgets, projects and people  
  • Tax compliance and reporting requirements
  • Cross‑border tax implication analysis
  • International tax structures knowledge
  • BEPS planning
  • Global/international tax planning
  • Data analysis and interpretation

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience maintaining engagement‑economics reports and assisting on RFP responses
  • Exposure to resource planning, status tracking, and budget stewardship
  • Participation in daily client sessions as a workstream member or team lead

  • We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business.  The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $91,100 to $150,200.  The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $109,400 to $170,600.  Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.  In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
  • Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
