The rolereports to the Head of SWE and is responsible for managing 5+ Firmwareengineers while alsoperforming hands-on technical work and coding as required.

In your role as Firmware Engineering Manager at Kohler Ventures you will

• Work directly with the Head of Software, software engineering team, and product teams.
• Firmware Development Lifecycle Management: Oversee the firmware development process, including design, implementation, testing, and maintenance.
• Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of Firmware Engineers, promoting a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
• Project Management: Ensure timely delivery of firmware projects with a focus on quality and performance.
• Hands-on technical work: Build firmware that can scale with the business growth of Kohler Ventures.
• Collaboration and Communication: Facilitate effective communication between the firmware engineering team and other departments, translating complex firmware concepts into actionable business strategies.
• Quality Assurance: Implement rigorous testing protocols to ensure firmware reliability and performance.

Skills/Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in Firmware design and development for embedded platforms or in a similar role.
• Strong leadership skills and experience managing a technical team.
• Significant experience in firmware development with a proven track record of leading firmware projects.
• Deep understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, and hardware interfaces.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, and assembly.
• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and hardware debugging tools.
• Availability to work outside of standard business hours if needed to be able to collaborate with teams across multiple time zones.
• Ability to travel 10% of time both domestically and internationally if needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Expertise in the firmware development lifecycle, including best practices for design, testing, and maintenance.
• Familiarity with various communication protocols (e.g., MIPI, SPI, I2C, UART).
• Knowledge of power management techniques and optimization for embedded systems.
• Strong ability to communicate complex technical and management information clearly and concisely.

The base salary range for this position is $154,000 -$231,000. The actual base salary offered to a candidate may be higher than theapproved range. This will vary depending on a variety of factors including thecandidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. This positionis subject to Area Salary Differential (Cost of Living Adjustment) that rangesfrom 16% of base salary for the NYC metro area. The approved base salary rangeincluding ASD for this position is $178,640 - $267,960 depending on location. Inaddition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus and a specialproject incentive.  Available benefits include medical, dental, vision and401k.
