Position Overview

  • SCOPE OF ROLE:          
  • The Forensic Enhancement Coordinator will provide supportive services to individuals with a forensic and chronic homelessness history who are enrolled in various SUS programs.  This role involves developing and implementing specialized interventions through various collaborative and community-based initiatives, aimed at avoiding recidivism, by promoting skills which promote rehabilitation, community reintegration and ongoing stability. 

    The candidate must exhibit strong organizational and communication skills, demonstrating the ability to effectively manage responsibilities and engage diverse populations.  They must uphold the principles of trauma-informed care and consistently align with the core values of SUS.  

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Facilitate engagement with individuals during program intake to identify specific needs and formulate service plans tailored to their forensic histories.
    • Conduct risk assessments to evaluate potential challenges and develop strategies to mitigate barriers to successful reintegration.
    • Organize and facilitate focus groups, workshops and activities centered around:
      • Supporting successful community reintegration
      • Promoting continued stability through skill building and access to resources
      • Education on strategies to avoid recidivism and reduce risk factors.
    • Support clients around community reintegration by connecting them with critical resources including:
        • Sealing records and expungement
        • Education on workplace rights
        • Updates on changes in drug laws
        • Assistance with obtaining and interpreting criminal records (rap sheets)
        • Voting rights

     

    • Monitor and document client progress, adapting service plans as necessary to achieve positive outcomes.
    • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

    Qualifications

  • REQUIREMENTS
  • REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
    • Forensic knowledge/history
    • Experience with homelessness and mental illness  

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

    • Experience working with forensic/reentry populations preferred
    • Bilingual English/Spanish speaking preferred, not required.
