Founding Solutions Engineer
New York, NY (In-Office) · Full-Time
Firefly is building the defining physical AI company of the next decade, starting with safety.
We believe safety is the most important problem facing America today. Every school, hospital, hotel, workplace, and public venue relies on a patchwork of disconnected systems to understand and protect the people inside them. Most were built decades ago, rarely work together, and leave organizations operating without a real-time understanding of what's happening across their spaces.
Firefly is replacing that stack with a single AI-native platform that helps organizations understand their environment, coordinate action, and respond when every second counts. We combine intelligent software with beautifully designed hardware to bring consumer-grade experiences to one of the world's largest and most important industries.
In less than two years, Firefly has grown from an idea to protecting everything from boutique hotels to 30,000-student school systems, raising more than $27 million from leading investors along the way. Our team includes leaders from Apple and Verkada who care deeply about craft, speed, and building technology that matters in the real world.
Safety is where the need is most urgent, but the opportunity is much larger. Every physical space generates signals. Every organization needs to understand what is happening, determine what matters, and coordinate the right response. We believe the next generation of AI will move beyond screens and into the real world, becoming the system of intelligence that helps organizations operate and protect the spaces they are responsible for.
About the Role
Firefly is hiring a founding Solutions Engineer to own how our product gets into the real world and make deployment one of our strongest competitive advantages.
How quickly and effectively we deliver value to customers is a core part of the Firefly product experience, and you'll own the system that makes it happen. From the first technical conversation in a deal through hardware deployment, network integration, software configuration, and customer enablement, you'll be responsible for ensuring successful outcomes.
This is a founding, highly cross-functional role spanning hardware and software, pre-sales and post-sale. You'll be the technical voice in active deals, the person on-site during deployments, and the partner working alongside customer IT, security, and facilities teams. You'll enable partners and installers to deploy on our behalf, build the playbooks that future team members inherit, and feed what you learn in the field directly back into the product.
You're a fit if you have:
3+ years minimum experience in solutions engineering, technical deployment, or a comparable hands-on technical customer role
Strong networking fundamentals - VLANs, firewall rules, DNS/DHCP, and the ability to troubleshoot with packet captures and traceroutes when needed
Been the technical voice in active sales cycles, walking IT, security, and facilities teams through architecture at the protocol, network, and hardware level
Scoped and run hardware rollouts - site surveys, installer coordination, device commissioning, and field troubleshooting (RF/wireless experience a plus)
Configured software for customers - tenants, roles, workflows, escalation and contact trees - and trained end users to run it without you
Led integrations with third-party systems (cameras, access control, HRIS, SSO) and can figure out a new API fast
Comfortable defending your architecture to CISOs and IT directors, and bridging customer feedback back to product
Who we're looking for
The same things matter to us in every person we hire, regardless of role. We look for people who hold an exceptionally high bar for quality and understand that reaching it takes relentless iteration, intellectual honesty, and a willingness to sweat the details. The organizations we serve carry responsibility for people's lives, and earning their trust requires the same level of care, rigor, and follow-through.
Above all, we want people who are here to win as a team. What we're building is difficult and consequential, and it requires tenacity, low ego, and a genuine sense of ownership. We value people who bring thoughtfulness, optimism, and energy to those around them, care more about the outcome than their individual piece of it, and take the work seriously without taking themselves too seriously.
This is an in-office role based in our New York City office.
