The Opportunity

As a Staff Consultant within EY's Financial Services Subledger practice, you will support client teams helping insurance, banking, asset management, and alternative investment organizations improve their finance, accounting, reporting, and data environments.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside business, accounting, operations, and technology stakeholders to support finance transformation initiatives, investment accounting platform implementations, subledger modernization programs, data migrations, and enterprise reporting solutions. You will help document requirements, analyze data, support testing activities, and contribute to solutions that improve financial processes, data quality, and reporting capabilities.

 

Your Key Responsibilities

Support finance transformation and technology-enabled accounting initiatives

  • Assist with investment accounting, subledger, and financial systems implementation activities across the financial services sector.

  • Support current-state process reviews, future-state documentation, and implementation planning.

  • Work with business, accounting, and technology stakeholders to support solution design and delivery.

Gather accounting, reporting, and data requirements

  • Gather and document business, functional, data, and reporting requirements.

  • Assist with documentation of accounting frameworks, including product lifecycles, accounting events, chart of accounts structures, accounting elections, and posting rules.

  • Help develop functional specifications, process documentation, and related project materials.

Support data conversion, reconciliation, and testing activities

  • Assist with data migration, conversion, validation, and reconciliation activities across financial systems.

  • Help develop and execute test cases, validation procedures, and testing documentation.

  • Analyze accounting and operational data to identify issues, support discrepancy resolution, and improve data quality.

Develop reporting, analytics, and business intelligence activities

  • Assist with documentation of reporting requirements and current-state reporting processes.

  • Support the development of financial, regulatory, management, and operational reporting materials.

  • Help analyze data and prepare reporting outputs using Excel, SQL, business intelligence, or other data tools.

Support solution deployment and business adoption

  • Collaborate with project teams, software vendors, and client stakeholders to support system configuration and implementation activities.

  • Assist with training materials, user support, and post-go-live stabilization activities.

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, data quality, and reporting effectiveness.

To Qualify for the Role, You Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • 1+ years of experience in finance, accounting, data analysis, financial systems, technology consulting, business analysis, or a related field.

  • Foundational understanding of financial services, accounting operations, financial reporting, data flows, or business processes.

  • Experience using Excel and/or other data analysis tools to organize, analyze, or reconcile data.

  • Ability to document requirements, processes, issues, test results, or project deliverables.

  • Ability to collaborate with business, technology, and project team members in a professional environment.

  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 25%-50%.

 

Ideally, You'll Also Have

  • Exposure to finance transformation, investment accounting, subledgers, financial systems implementation, or technology consulting engagements.

  • Exposure to financial products such as payments, deposits, loans, securities, debt, derivatives, insurance contracts, or reinsurance.

  • Exposure to investment accounting or financial platforms such as BlackRock Aladdin Accounting, Eagle, Clearwater Analytics, SimCorp Dimension, or similar solutions.

  • Exposure to ABOR, IBOR, subledger, general ledger, or investment data mart transformation initiatives.

  • Experience within insurance, asset management, banking, wealth management, capital markets, or alternative investment organizations.

  • Familiarity with GAAP, STAT, regulatory, management, or audited financial reporting processes.

  • Experience supporting data migration, reconciliation, validation, testing, or reporting activities.

  • Business intelligence and analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting technologies.

  • Experience with SQL, Alteryx, Python, VBA, Power Automate, or related data and automation tools.

  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools to improve workflows, support analysis, draft materials, or develop communications.

  • Exposure to cloud-based transformation initiatives involving AWS, Azure, or modern enterprise data platforms.

  • Experience in Agile delivery environments.

  • Professional certifications or progress toward certifications such as CPA, CFA, FRM, PMP, or equivalent credentials.

  • We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business.  The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $69,700 to $114,800.  The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $83,500 to $130,600.  Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.  In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
