Overview

Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP is seeking someone with 2-4 years experience to join our Global Employment, Immigration and Equity Compensation team within our Employment Law Group.  The ideal candidate would be based in our New York or any California office. We are also open to considering Career Associates for this opportunity.   


Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced attorney to join our team, focusing on corporate immigration law and cross-border global employment law. The successful candidate will advise tech startups and multinational employers on a wide range of people issues, including: 

  • Nonimmigrant employment visas and permanent residence 
  • Employment immigration policies and compliance 
  • International HR issues such as hiring, policies and performance management 
     

About the Role: 

  • Counsel clients on U.S. and global employment-based and immigration matters 
  • Conduct visa assessments, set strategy and prepare and file employment-based immigration petitions including H-1B, E-3, L-1, O-1, TN and E-2 petitions, as well as guide clients through green card processes including PERM 
  • Provide advice and counsel to clients on the employment lifecycle and prepare comparative overviews of international employment laws 
  • Support in the preparation of equity compensation overviews 
  • Collaborate with top-tier corporate clients across various industries 

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience directly advising a range of clients in U.S. employment immigration 
  • Hands-on experience preparing and filing a high volume of various employment-based nonimmigrant and immigration visa petitions, as well as addressing Requests for Further Evidence, with minimal supervision  
  • Proven track record of advising multinational companies 
  • Experience with global employment law and equity compensation counselling, or a willingness to learn these facets of the practice 
  • Experience with global immigration law is a plus 
  • Prior experience in a corporate immigration law firm is preferred 
  • Must be a member of the California State Bar or New York State Bar (depending on office affiliation).  
  • Known for your sharp intellect, thoughtful approach to career development, and ability to make a positive impression with colleagues and clients. 
  • Demonstrate maturity, professionalism, and excellent judgment in high-stakes situations. 
  • Collaborative and effective communicator who earns credibility with stakeholders at all levels. 
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and deliver practical solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is between $160,000 and $365,000. 

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick’s estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography.   Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
