Global FIELD CISO
This role is hybrid for NYC or Boston. All other locations are not being considered at this time.
About GitGuardian
GitGuardian is a global cybersecurity scale-up. The company is based in Paris, New York City, and Boston. Among our early investors who saw our market value proposition are the co-founder of GitHub, Scott Chacon, along with Solomon Hykes, Docker's co-founder. American and European top-tier VC firms have also invested in GitGuardian, which raised its Series C in early 2026.
GitGuardian helps enterprises close credential-based breach paths. It finds secrets wherever they live, prioritizes remediation based on rich context, and prevents new exposure across code, systems, and AI. The GitGuardian platform is already used by more than 600K developers worldwide and by 50 of the Fortune 500.
Your Mission:
Serve as GitGuardian's most senior external-facing security leader, engaging directly with CISOs, Deputy CISOs, AppSec leaders, platform engineering teams, and board-level stakeholders at Fortune 500 and highly regulated enterprise accounts
Build, recruit, and own GitGuardian's CISO and CTO Advisory Board — a world-class community of 6–10 executive security and technology leaders who provide strategic product guidance, market intelligence, executive introductions, and net new enterprise pipeline
Accelerate high-consequence enterprise deal cycles by bringing peer-level CISO credibility to complex, politically nuanced opportunities alongside our Strategic Enterprise AEs
Shape and continuously evolve GitGuardian's strategic enterprise narrative around developer security, secrets management, AI-assisted development risk, and non-human identity governance — refreshing positioning every 3–6 months as the market shifts
Represent GitGuardian externally at key industry forums (FS-ISAC, Health-ISAC, cybersecurity executive roundtables, and strategic conferences), strengthening brand credibility and executive relationships
Act as a strategic interpreter between the market, enterprise customers, Product, Marketing, Sales, and Executive Leadership — translating real-world CISO feedback into actionable product and positioning recommendations
Partner cross-functionally with Solution Engineering and enterprise sales leadership to elevate organizational credibility, GTM maturity, and executive communication quality across the field
Who You Are:
A former CISO, Deputy CISO, Head of AppSec, or senior enterprise security executive — or a highly respected security executive-facing leader from a leading cybersecurity company, with 10+ years in cybersecurity, enterprise security leadership, or strategic security advisory environments
Deeply technically credible: you have hands-on understanding of application security, developer security, secrets management, cloud security, DevSecOps, and non-human identity — you can engage substantively with technical CISOs, not just executive buyers
A calm, high-judgment executive presence: you build trust immediately with CISOs, VPs of Security, and AppSec leaders; you communicate with nuance, strategic clarity, and confidence — without ego or fear-driven messaging
A natural relationship builder and strong listener: extroverted and collaborative by nature, you thrive at cultivating long-term executive relationships and facilitating meaningful peer connections through roundtables, executive dinners, and advisory engagements
Consultative by instinct: you listen carefully to objections, navigate complex organizational dynamics, and respond with tailored, context-aware solutions rather than scripted vendor pitches
Ideally someone with buyer-side experience — a former GitGuardian customer or a security leader who has personally evaluated, deployed, or operationalized developer security tooling within an enterprise environment; you can say "I have lived this problem operationally" with full credibility
Based in New York City (strongly preferred; 3 days/week in-office for the first 6 months)
Energized by the pace, ambiguity, and cross-functional demands of a fast-growing cybersecurity scale-up
The interview process:
Video call with our Talent Acquisition manager, to explore your background and evaluate mutual fit
Intro call with our VP - GTM, to dive deeper into your experience, security philosophy, and executive approach, and to introduce you to our go-to-market vision
Strategic advisory simulation, a live scenario with our GTM and SE leadership to evaluate executive presence, security depth, and consultative instincts in a realistic enterprise setting
Final interview with our CEO, Eric — Eric will share GitGuardian's mission, vision, and strategic ambitions, and assess cultural and strategic alignment
