TITLE: GrandBridge Tech Center Site Director

DEPARTMENT: Youth Services

PROGRAM: COMPASS

REPORTS TO: Deputy Director of Manhattan Youth Programs 

SALARY: $75,000 - $80,000 annually 

LOCATION: Lower East Side, New York, NY

SCHEDULE: School Year: Monday – Friday; 10:30am – 6:30pm OR 11:00am - 7:00pm, some evenings and Saturdays. Summer: 8:00am – 4:00pm or 10:00am - 6:00pm

JOB SUMMARY: The Site Director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Grand Bridge Tech Center (GBTC), Grand St. Settlement’s premier multi-generational technology and innovation hub. The Site Director oversees a diverse portfolio of programming, including DYCD COMPASS-funded after-school, holiday, and summer programs, as well as community-responsive initiatives serving youth, adults, older adults, and families. The Site Director ensures the effective delivery of high-quality STEAM, technology, workforce development, and community engagement programming that advances digital equity and creates opportunities for lifelong learning. The position is responsible for supervising and developing staff, managing day-to-day site operations, cultivating strategic partnerships, coordinating programming across multiple age groups, and ensuring compliance with organizational, city, and programmatic requirements. Working collaboratively with internal teams, schools, community partners, funders, and technology and workforce development organizations, the Site Director identifies and develops opportunities that expand access to technology, education, career exploration, workforce pathways, and community resources. The Site Director also provides leadership in the successful implementation and continuous improvement of DYCD COMPASS programming, ensuring that program design, staffing, engagement, and outcomes align with contract requirements and community needs. Through collaborative leadership and a commitment to equity, innovation, and excellence, the Site Director advances Grand St. Settlement’s mission by positioning the Grand Bridge Tech Center as a dynamic community hub where individuals of all ages can learn, create, connect, and thrive.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • At least three (3) years of experience working in a community center or school-based after-school program; at least two years of which were in a supervisory capacity.

  • Required to obtain SACC Program Director's (30-hour) credentials.

  • Ability to work independently, assess priorities, and take initiative.

  • Effective oral, written, and collaborative skills.

  • Experience in lesson planning, curriculum development, and implementation of structured programming for elementary school students.

  • Familiarity with program budgeting and fiscal management is a plus.

  • Familiarity with DYCD Online and database management is a plus.

  • Ability to maintain State Central Registry (SCR) clearance- $25 nonrefundable fee required and fingerprint clearance throughout the duration of employment.

  • Experience working with students in urban school and/or community-based settings

  • Must be computer literate.

  • Capacity to thrive under pressure while working on multiple tasks and projects.

  • Spanish speaking is a plus.

  • Must be able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with the school’s administration & personnel.

  • Knowledge of the public education system and positive youth development best practices.

  • Strong public speaking, writing, and organizational skills.

  • Must demonstrate knowledge in New York State Learning Standards.

  • Knowledge in STEM, Health & Sexuality, Careers & Life Planning, Sports & Adventure, and Academic Enrichment highly desirable.

  • Trained/experienced in supporting common mental health conditions such as depression,  anxiety, trauma, and substance abuse 


Site leadership: Programming & Administrative:

Provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of the DYCD COMPASS Elementary After-School, Holiday Camp, and Summer programming operating at the Grand Bridge Tech Center.


  • Ensure the program consistently meets or exceeds DYCD contractual requirements, including enrollment, average daily attendance (ADA), participant retention, program quality, reporting, and performance outcomes.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive recruitment, outreach, enrollment, and retention plans to achieve full enrollment and maintain strong participant attendance throughout the school year and summer.

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with school administration, teachers, guidance staff, families, and community partners to ensure after-school programming complements school-day learning and supports student success.

  • Ensure implementation of high-quality programming aligned with DYCD COMPASS core components, including:

  • Academic Support & Homework Help

  • Literacy Development

  • STEM & Project-Based Learning

  • Arts & Creative Expression

  • Physical Activity & Healthy Living

  • Leadership Development 

  • Family Engagement

  • Social-Emotional Learning

  • Develop program schedules, activity rotations, lesson plan expectations, and enrichment opportunities that provide engaging, developmentally appropriate experiences for elementary-aged youth.

  • Supervise, coach, evaluate, and support all full-time, part-time, seasonal, consultant, and volunteer staff through regular supervision, observations, feedback, and professional development.

  • Conduct routine classroom observations and provide coaching to ensure high-quality instruction, classroom management, youth engagement, and positive behavior support.

  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed environment where all participants and families feel respected, safe, and supported.

  • Establish measurable program goals and evaluate participant outcomes through attendance data, surveys, observations, assessments, and other program evaluation tools.

  • Coordinate family engagement activities, showcases, workshops, celebrations, educational events, and field trips that strengthen family participation and community connections.

  • Support family technology workshops and digital literacy initiatives that increase community access to technology resources.

  • Promote the Grand Bridge Tech Center as a community resource by supporting family technology workshops, digital literacy initiatives, and neighborhood engagement opportunities that complement COMPASS programming.

  • Ensure compliance with all Grand St. Settlement policies, DYCD regulations, Department of Health standards, OCFS requirements, DOE expectations, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Monitor enrollment, analyze attendance, retention, participant engagement, and program performance to ensure contractual goals are consistently achieved.

  • Maintain accurate participant records, attendance, enrollment documentation, incident reports, consent forms, and all required compliance documentation.

  • Ensure all participant information is accurately entered and maintained in DYCD Online and other agency databases within required timelines.

  • Review lesson plans, activity schedules, and program calendars to ensure alignment with DYCD COMPASS standards, New York State Learning Standards, and agency expectations.

  • Prepare for and participate in DYCD monitoring visits, quality reviews, audits, and internal assessments while implementing corrective actions as necessary.

  • Coordinate staff recruitment, hiring, onboarding, orientation, scheduling, supervision, coaching, and professional development

  • Conduct regular staff meetings, supervision sessions, classroom observations, and annual performance evaluations.

  • Develop, manage, and monitor program budgets while ensuring responsible stewardship of grant and agency resources.

  • Prepare and submit operational reports, grant reports, participant data, and other required documentation for agency leadership and funders.

  • Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, incident reporting, safety drills, and risk management procedures.


Multi-generation programming:

Oversee planning and implementation of family engagement events, community showcases, holiday programming, and special initiatives.


  • Collaborate with Grand St. Settlement departments to strengthen agency-wide initiatives and ensure seamless participant experiences across programs.

  • Coordinate scheduling and utilization of technology labs, classrooms, shared learning spaces, and community meeting areas to maximize program effectiveness.

  • Oversee technology equipment, inventory, educational supplies, vendor relationships, and operational logistics supporting the Grand Bridge Tech Center.

  • Collaborate with facilities staff to ensure the Center remains clean, safe, functional, and technology-ready for participants, staff, and community partners.

  • Coordinate with resident organizations and community partners operating within the Grand Bridge Tech Center to maximize shared resources and collaborative programming.

  • Build partnerships with community organizations, educational institutions, technology partners, and local businesses to expand enrichment opportunities and resources available to participants

  • Support agency-wide strategic priorities and cross-departmental collaborations that strengthen Grand St. Settlement's mission.

  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

Facility:

  • Maintain and diligently follow up with the custodian to ensure timely response to facility issues
