Everytown for Gun Safety, the nation’s largest gun violence prevention advocacy group, is seeking a talented, mid-level Graphic Designer to join the creative team for a 4-month engagement. The Creative team collaborates closely with every department and program across the Everytown, Moms Demand Action, and Students Demand Action brands, using design to unify our message to end gun violence.
The Graphic Designer's role will be to support our team through a new brand rollout and provide extra design capacity during the busy election and end-of-year fundraising season. They will be expected to create visually dynamic and compelling graphic assets for social media, video, email, web, print, merch, and more. The right candidate will be organized, focused, detail-oriented, and experienced working on multiple workstreams simultaneously.
The Graphic Designer role is a full-time temporary position and will report to the Creative Director. They will be expected to work in the office 3 days a week in either our DC or NYC locations. The hourly rate for this assignment is $50-$60, depending on experience.
In this role, you will:
Translate complex ideas into visual concepts using a range of tools. Some of the work the designer will do includes ads, social media graphics, email graphics, merch design, photo research and editing, video graphics, and animation.
Think strategically about and contribute to building out our new brand system.
Be comfortable spearheading and managing projects from start to finish, and meeting deadlines
Be collaborative and solutions-oriented; have a curious approach to solving problems and trying new ideas
Be comfortable working in a fast-paced campaign atmosphere; be able to prioritize projects and tasks on a daily (sometimes hourly) basis
Be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Be a champion of visual communication tools and opportunities
Be mindful of and integrate accessibility and equity in your work — learn new tools, gather insights, and share with the team
Be a team player and be comfortable giving and receiving feedback
You should have:
BA, BFA, MFA, or equivalent agency or in-house design experience
5+ years of design experience
Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Google Suite, Dropbox, Canva, and Asana
Exceptional skill in the formal aspects of designÂ
A portfolio that demonstrates mastery of type, color, composition, and visual systems
Believes in the mission of ending gun violence and sees design as an instrument for social and political change
