Position Summary

The Group Leader is responsible for providing a safe, fun, and enriching after-school experience for a consistent group of youth.  Group Leaders plan and facilitate engaging pro-social activity lessons and curricula to support the healthy development of youth in a variety of areas.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Provide homework help, facilitate activities, and safely supervise children in programs outside of school day hours.
  • Develop, with program leadership support, high-quality project-based lessons that are hands-on and engaging for students.
  • Support the implementation of showcases, exhibits, etc. to share student work with families and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with participants, families & school faculty.
  • Take daily attendance.
  • Implement positive behavior management systems, focusing on clear expectations for youth behavior; verbal acknowledgment; and systemic rewards for demonstrating desired behaviors.
  • Assist activity specialists, tutors, and subcontractors to manage and document behavior and facilitate activity as needed.
  • Maintain and organize activity supplies for your program delivery.
  • Assist and maintain in data collection and upkeep of participants documents.
  • Attend all necessary program meetings.
  • Attend related professional development opportunities to build personal/professional skills.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications          

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Minimum 2 years direct experience working with children.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently.
  • Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines, communicate with stakeholders, and manage competing tasks.
