We are seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Chemistry Teacher to inspire and educate students in the fascinating world of science at St. Raymond Academy in the Bronx. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop engaging lessons, foster scientific curiosity, and support students' academic growth. The ideal candidate will bring a dynamic teaching style, strong subject expertise, and a commitment to nurturing diverse learners in a vibrant educational environment. Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver comprehensive chemistry lessons aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating laboratory experiments, demonstrations, and interactive activities.
  • Prepare students for the New York State Chemistry Regents Exams.
  • Teach a section of health.
  • Integrate educational technology tools and IT-enabled resources into lessons to enhance student understanding and engagement.
  • Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, including standardized tests, quizzes, lab reports, and project work.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional strategies, and school-wide initiatives to improve science education quality.
  • Provide academic advising and mentorship to students, supporting their personal growth and fostering interest in scientific careers.
  • Maintain compliance with educational regulations and standards while ensuring safety protocols are followed during laboratory activities such as dissection or microbiology experiments.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities related to science research, instructional design, classroom management, and new teaching methodologies.
  • Provide characteristics of high moral and Catholic values
  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Science Education or a related field; advanced degrees preferred.
  • Experience teaching high school science subjects with a focus on chemistry; prior middle school or private school experience is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of chemistry topics including organic chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, microbiology, and differential equations.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage teenagers from diverse cultural backgrounds while managing classroom dynamics confidently.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt lessons for different learning styles and provide differentiated instruction.
  • Experience working with Regents Exam procedures and academic advising is desirable.
  • Knowledge of educational compliance regulations related to science instruction and safety protocols during laboratory activities.
  • Certification in 9-12 Science is preferred.

Salary range:  $59,000-$76,000
